About 97k miles on a late '98 saloon. Apart from regular servicing (to manufacturer's spec), stuff like brake pads, tyres, etc., and stuff I've replaced myself (wheels, brakes, exhaust) it has needed:

@ ~36k/3yr11mth : track-rod ends (under warranty)
@ ~42k/4yr01mth : torque-converter seal (under warranty)
@ ~53k/4yr06mth : steering arms (under warranty)
@ ~86k/5yr08mth : head gaskets/valve stem oil seals

Cheers,
Brian

:topic: Sorry to butt in but Brian I see you changed your valve stem oil seals at 86k, where you getting black smoke coming out intermitantly before you changed them ?

This thread (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5491) has some interesting mileages.

I am currently on three weeks, and about 800 miles, but the car has done about 90k - it is an early legnum.

Must be around the same as Nick, about 3 weeks.

Just coming up on 4K.... :eek:

I hadn't noticed it but the technician who was doing the heads for me suggested that the valve stem oil seals be replaced while the heads were off. He said he'd noticed some oil smoke before he did the work. I guess the seals cost buttons in comparison to the work that was done so happy enough to have them done at the same time. I don't think I'd have had the heads off just to do these seals though - 24 hours labour :stunned: for the work I had done, and that didn't include skimming the heads which was done by a local engineer. Also, the head gasket set was £324 + VAT :(

So, just to revive an old thread, after the weekend in Birmingham and Kieran and Nick being kind enough to take me in their cars i was shocked to find Kierna and almost 100k on the clock and Nick to be at 129k, both cars still felt and looked good despite this. I was just wondering who has the highest mileage on their clock?

So, a year later and car is now at 107K.....

Since then it has had, in addition to normal services;

Gearbox Oil Seal (that was about a week after my last post, under warranty)
Lower Arms (as part of the 90K super-service)

Not too bad, on the consumables front;

2 sets of Eagle F1s (2nd set in storage now, winter tyres at the mo.)
1 set P6000s..... which were on the car when I got it.

1 set pads front
1 set pads & disks front and rear

It's done a bit more than 90K now Nick ;) - Think it's about 102,000. Will double check in the morning

Yeah, 168K or summat like that.... I drive it once - Roanne Red, manual and it had an LPG sytem fitted. It was a very tight drive for it's mileage. Ran well on LPG too!

I currently have 113,000km on the EC5W 1998 Legnum Super VR4

I had an older model E39A 1991 Galant VR4 (with a 4G63 engine) and it had done 250,000km on the standard engine, internals and gearbox when I sold it. A month later the new owner called me to say that the engine and gearbox had blown up. Oh well. LOL.

Pah. I can claim 320,000ish miles if I add all my fleet together!:inquisiti /pan

Skarloey is now the highest mileage car we own, at 107,000 miles.

Ariadne has about 105,000 these days (Shows how little use she gets!).

PapPap has 50something thousand on the clock - I think it's 54000.

And the GLSi has just ticked over 52,000.:scholar:

Ironic - two of the oldest Galants I've owned have been the lowest mileage!

Darren - have you checked the brake fluid level? Usually, the light comes on when the level is too low.

As for mileage, well the odometer on the VR-4 shows 95k now. But as some of that was in km it actually works out to approximately 80k miles. That said, the engine has only done 40k :scholar:

Hehe, thats good going mate. I notice on your introduction post that your old car gave up after the cambelt stretched. Just be careful in your V6 about the cambelt too. From 180k miles (at least) to 245k miles, you are coming to close to maybe needing a cambelt change?
