You are right, it is about time we had another Auckland meet, and it would be great to have a get together with another club, as a small club in NZ it is ideal, as for previous numbers, the 2 I have been to the first we had 3 (was pissing down with rain most of the day) and the last one in November we had 7 or 8 come along.

Yes sounds OK to me too!

We have to travel in time, land safely, then buy a car and then find our way to wherever we are going!

Not certain car will be a VR-4 though!

Or even a Mitsubishi!

I would figure the right hand side if you approaching the city, coming over the bridge from the North Shore.

For those folks coming from the city side of the bridge, it would be on the left hand side.

They are silver but look black thru the backing, I have one on my rear window and one on each side which can jhust be seen thru the tints I will be at the drags this Sunday, not racing but helping my brother out, and probably spend most time hanging out with the Sound off guys. I will have my car there tho.

K, just an update on some details for the meet:

The Place has been changed. We will be looking at meeting by the Auckland Domain by parking lot with the cannons in front of the museum, then cruisin from there to the origrinal under harbour bridge location. You are welcome to join us at the domain and do the cruise to the bridge or just meet us at the bridge location.

Bhav from MSport will also be playing the role of photographer. Here are some words from the man:

Ok this sounds like it might be a bit of a big one. soooooo............
I would like all cars that turn up to be cleaned if you want cos i will be taking photos. I wanna take some nice fotos of individual cars and will make the pics available to all so that you can print them etc....

so if you want to have some nice photos of you car for your desktop at work. or you just want them printed so that you have some nice photos, clean your cars. i'll bring the laptop so that you can see what they look like

Kimmie from MSport will look at doing photos as well and will be printing out photos as well. Here are some words from the lady:

Sounds good Bhavy, I'll book a digi SLR camera too and just tottle around with you Very Happy

I'll also nominate myself to print out photo quality photo's that anyone wants (up to size A4). Gotta love the perks of working for Canon

looks like its gonna be a interesting cruise :)

Sounds good.

I'm thinking something like the carpark next to the POE (takapuna golf course). There is also Mobil down the road which has 98 if anyone needs to fill up.

Its also pretty central, not far off the motorway and close for those of us already south of the northcote offramp.

K, here is how it is going to go:

Meet up at the domain at 7pm. Some photos will be taken for those that want some. After the photos have been done, which should be bout 7:30pm, we will then drive through to the bridge in a convoy. Those that cannot or don't want to go through to the domain first, can meet up with the rest under the harbour bridge (the convoy should arrive there at about 8pm)

Hope that clears it all up.

what we need to decide is if all the VR4 members want to meet first, maybe in the afternoon?

and, who's bringing the beer! :-D

chris g
13-01-2005, 08:52 AM
We fly on the 7th, land Auckland 0530 on the 9th and then in Hamilton on the 10th

Should be fit enough to attend on the 12th - may not have a car by then so a passenger ride would be appreciated - is anyone in Hamilton or passing through on way to the meet?

Bugger! Good luck with the insurance. I have had mixed experiances with insurance companies. Sometimes it took ages to get things sorted, other times within a week.

If the worst happens and you want to come along as a passenger, give me a yell.

I think everyone already knows my preferance... I reckon we should all meet up and convoy to the domain. Meeting about 6pm or so would give us time to get to know one-another before meeting the evo crowd.

Fast cars and grog? mmmmm ;)

Didn't think of speed bumps... been a long time since I was there. I'll leave the location to those who know the area better. :rolleyes5

Im none to fond of speed bumps myself. Originally I had my car pretty low (adjustable platforms as low as they would go) and aside from being illegally low, I just kept having to many hassles with speed bumps and drive ways.

I raised the car up a bit, and actually found it handled better. doesnt LOOK quite as cool though ;)

Hi Kenneth - for the North of the Bridge crowd I take it its somthing like 6:00pm at car park next to Takapuna Golf Club -> 6:30 at car park on Beach & Stanley -> 7:00 at the Bridge (South Side).

That sound right?

Ok anyone south of the Bombays who would like to meet at the BP petrol station truck carpark please let me know. As I believe it would be awesome to convoy in with each other....

I'm now slightly confused to where and what time we are meeting as there have been several suggestions.

I believe the orginal place is far better as we all know it is accessible and everyone knows where the harbour bridge is!

So I put forward the orginal time of 7pm and the orginal destination/location of the harbour bridge (south side). Then if we decide to move to another location we can together (so we can get lost together) lol... only kidding.... I have been and organised several car runs (for a nation wide muscle car club) and believe me the simple the better. Once all members are together it is far more easier to see how many cars to where will be the best location to depart too....

Only a suggestion out of experience!

Ok so you are proposing to meet separatley from the domain meet right? So we arrive together? Where and what time? (for those outside of Auckland who are trying to make it for clarity) Do you believe we should start a list of who will try to turn up from the club with their cell numbers so we don't leave or if complications arise we have contact details?

Like I have said in my last post, out of experience for such a big meet and meeting alternative clubs, to have an effective meet it's best to be well organised; because it's very dissappointing when it falls down around your ears! Lol been there done that before.... But it's just a suggestion!

this meet is going o be quite big, I was in Auckland the other day speaking with Rapier (nzevo mod) and we were pondering whether or not the areas are going to be big enuf!!!

Agreed on this - although you might be able to use the car park for overspill round at the marina - not sure (they might not like it).

Possible alternative picturesque locations????

the planning has gone too far to change locations, 7pm the marina car park should be fairly deserted, and the we could move it there, it is only a 100m away :)

Sorry about this but a new location for the meet has been decided up due the possible lack of space. I think it is going to be the perfect urban setting for photos. This is final and should not change unless there unforseen circumstances:

Date: Saturday, 12th Feb 2005
City: Auckland
Meet Spot: Parking area by corner of Edwin St and Normanby in Auckland City (Across the street from Hockey Club)
Meet Spot Time: 7:30pm

Directions on how to get there still to follow, hopefully will have it up here by tomorrow, Wed, 8 Feb 05

o.k peeps, anyone out there that took photos of our first meet of the year, we need to start uploading them to the CVR4 photo album (so we can keep up with the UK folks)

am not sure how it's done yet but can you PM Barry (braindg) if you have photos to go up..
