I've taken a bit of a leap of faith and bought these on ebay:

I was looking for a suspension upgrade and was watching these for a while. I've trawled both this forum and google and can't find anything on these coil overs, other than they were made under license by carrozzeria in Japan. Strangely, they are fixed rate dampers with no adjustability. The springs are 12k front and 10k rear, so I'm hoping that the valving is matched to these. I doubt I can get these rebuilt as they look obsolete (will cross that bridge when/if I get to it), but they look in good nick and I'll give them a good check when they arrive. But to the point, has anyone ever seen a set of Ohlins for the VR4 like these, or are they a bespoke 'one off'?

Are you sure the damping is not adjustable? It looks like there is an adjuster knob at the top of the front struts in the second picture.

Never heard of that kit before, so can't help at all! Hope you enjoy them.

IMO with that ratios they will be really stiff, but quality of OHLINS should be one of the best available so good find.

If you look underneath/inside of the bottom of the front dampers, there might be an adjuster screw in there. There could be a plastic cap to remove before you can see it. My Pulsar came with a set when I first got it & I'm pretty sure they CAN still be rebuilt (can't remember where though). They were chuffing stiff though :D

I've seen such coilovers in Yahoo japan in the past. And if it's Öhlins, I bet they are adjustable... :)

Well, after what seems like ages I finally got the Ohlins coilovers today and fitted them straight away. I think I need to raise it a bit as with just 2 fingers clearance, the nose is rubbing on speed bumps, but that can wait a while. Initial impressions are not at all what I was expecting. From previous experience of coilovers and what I had assumed were quite hefty spring rates (12k front, 10k rear) the ride is almost better than stock. At first I thought something must have been wrong, but after a prolonged drive it was obvious the car was handling absolutely spot on. I'm hoping to try out the handling course at the Pod tomorrow so see just what it's like on the limit - I was reminded today just how fast you need to be going to approach the limits of these cars!! I've now got a set of Tein Lowering springs in excellent condition if anyone wants them - £50 collected or plus postage.

Thanks for the comments guys - I have to be honest I absolutely adore my Legnum now, they really do look great with a few subtle mods don't they? The wheels are SSR Type C 18 x 8.5 - bought them off ebay for Around £120 if I remember, but they did need a refurb - luckily mr step father has an engineering company that does powder coating as a side business. Very light indeed though, far lighter than the Compomotive MO 6's on the Cerbera. Ah the Fiat....... after putting a load of elbow grease getting it track ready I only did one day at Snetterton then sold it. I had taken it as far as I could without spending big $$$s on slicks, coil overs etc etc. Was a great base car for a very rapid and cheap track car though... here's a short vid of me harrassing a WRX STi.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ailWq1iLTKU

very nice where did you get your front discs?

The discs are part of DB Powers 360mm conversion - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mitsubishi-360mm-Big-Brake-Kit-Legnum-Galant-VR4-VR-4-/110868039943?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19d0400907#ht_1269wt_1180 - I believe they are the same items as used on the new Range Rover Sport, but with the PCD holes slightly re-drilled.
