does everyone no here that a standard vr4 when unrestricted can do 180mph so us lot that keep moding our engines must be getting close to 200mph, scary really, when u thin k these cars can beat a jaguar xkr of the line, and they cost twice as much if not more.

Mine is unrestricted too, recently had 173mph showing on the clock, but I wasn't scared until I saw a flying pig drive past in a Reliant Robin.

My VR4 must be a slow one....highest I've seen is 234 km/h as shown on my Field Fuel Controller, which I think is accurate. My VR4 is JDM, so the speedometer only goes to 180km/h. I had a Blitz Turbo Timer with built in speedometer which has shown a top speed of 256 km/h, but this is very suspect as the Field unit only showed 234km/h. I recently installed an Apexi AVC-R which has digital readings with peak hold for speed, rpm, boost-vacuum, throttle position and more...and seems to read the same as the Field as reagrds speed & rpm's.
BTW, my standard analog speedo seems to read higher than both electronic units. I know our cars have a very good coefficient of drag but the speeds in this thread seem to be unattainable for my car.
Anyone care to comment ?

I CAN REMEMBER READING AN ARTICLE IN THE MID EIGHTIES ABOUT THE VR4 AND HOW IT WAS SUCH AN UNDISCOVERED CAR WITH OUTRAGEOUS PERFORMANCE. I CAN REMEMBER READING THAT IT WAS CAPABLE OF AROUND 180MPH WHICH, AT THE TIME OF IT'S LAUNCH, MADE IT ONE OF THE FASTEST PRODUCTION CARS AVAILABLE.

WHEN I FIRST CAME ACROSS MY CAR I INSTANTLY REMEMBERED HOW FAST I'D HEARD IT COULD GO.

HAVING SPEED TESTED IT ONCE I DID DOUBT THE ACCURACY OF MY SPEEDO HOWEVER THE SECOND TIME I NOTICED THE SPEED AT WHICH I OVERTOOK THE ODD CAR AND HOW STRAIGHT ROADS I REGULARLY DRIVE ALONG ARE DEFINITELY NOT AS STRAIGHT AS I REMEMBERED AT EXTREMELY HIGH SPEED.

I AM ALSO PRETTY SURE, ALTHOUGH COULD BE CORRECTED, THAT UK CARS ARE RESTRICTED WHEREAS IMPORTS ARE MORE LIKELY TO BE DERESTRICTED.

REMEMBER AUDI S4/S6 AND M3 EVOS ARE RESTRICTED TO 155MPH IN THEIR UK FORM BUT UNLEASHED ARE CAPABLE OF MORE.

INSERT INTO post VALUES (ALSO REMEMBER THE GUY IN SCOTLAND WHO GOT A 5MONTHS INSIDE FOR BEING CAUGHT AT 156MPH IN HIS M3)

The highest indicated speed I've had was 150 mph. The doors sounded like they were going to blow off. It was still increasing at the time, but pretty slowly.

I've read that speedos do usually read fast, but when I had mine delimited the guy said that the speedo was now accurate. The only evidence I've got that it is accurate is a speeding ticket for 87.5 mph, which was my prefered cruising speed on motorways. The speedo was indicating about that, but I should have been looking at the police car in my mirror instead.

Find it hard to believe anything over 155 ish for a car of our mass and 260 or 280 ponies.:nono:

Do you guys in the UK go to Germany and drive FAST. I did when I was over there. Shame I was in a Renault Megane but still cruised at 170-190ks, a tad faster than 100 in good old NZ:nono: The cops here give you a ticket for 111ks:arse:
