One of my front heads has blown, so I'm off to get a replacement-
The nearest one to me is a Wilkos, and they never heard of a VR4. Their listing for a standard Galant doesn't come up with a H1, so I'm bringing in the real thing for them to match.
I'll post what they come up with, but I guess It'll be a H1
(Its a 2001 VR4 est)

The bulb type is printed on the metal carrier that's part of the bulb ;) but H7s and H1s (and H4s and H3s for that matter) are all different in appearance so quite obvious once you've identified them once.

Sylvania Silverstars are bright white & are high quality at a reasonable price.

Thanks Nick, I have read Niges write up before but I don't want to go to the expense or hassle of such a lengthy upgrade, bulbs will do fine for the present....

Yeah... I'm going to try some 'xenon' bulbs, supposedly 50% more light. £20 for the H1's and H7's and some boy racer side lights thrown in! Hopefully that'll do enough for now.
I replaced my low-beam and main-beam with Bosch Xenon Power bulbs. Other good ones are from Osram and Philips. The improvement is well worthwhile.
Got the replacement bulbs (H1, as all the posts say)- pain to remove the connectors- the little push in clips on each side of the connector are very stiff.
