This goeas out to anyone in NZ who has a chance to help me.

The problem:
I have a Mitsubishi Galant E35A here and the ECU has died (main chip is dead). Nobody here in Germany can help me and I am left with buying a new ECU from Mitsi for 1500 EUR...

The idea: Hayden (FNFAST VR4) had an E35A Galant and sent it to the breakers a couple of weeks ago. I guess I found the car (the only E35A with 4G63 engine) at Pick-A-Part in Tauranga. Unfortunately Pick-A-Part is self-service only.

Is there anybody who is willing to get there and have a look if it still has the ECU and MAF sensor available?
If so, I will need your help to get it shipped to Germany. Payment can be organized via Paypal.

Thanks a lor guys!
Stefan

car: Mitsubishi Galant E35A Viento from 1990 (AT and climate control)
engine: originally a 4G67 engine (1.8l DOHC 16V) but Hayden installed a4G63 NA engine
parts needed: ECU p/n MD166267 & MAF sensor p/n MD127665

Check Pick-a-Part Takanini. If there is a E35A Galant there I'm happy to pick up the ECU for you.

Hi Sean,

thanks for your kind offer. I need the ECU and MAF sensor off a E35A Galant. A 4G63 ECU will not do the job [simply because the E35A Galant did not have a knock sensor but the 4G63 ECU does requiere it]. :(

Can you please go there and check availability and prices? Any ideas how much they will charge? I assume around 300NZD for both??

The car [I believe it's Haydens old Viento] is listed as "1/8/2012 Galant E35a - 1990 - Grey 4door Sedan - Petrol - Automatic 2000cc" on their website. It should have the right ECU p/n MD166267 and the correct MAF sensor (otherwise the ECU do not work properly).

if you can get both for that price and the ECU has the right part number - buy it! You can get funds instantly.

Hey Ryan,

you are going to AUS? Wanna look for Kangaroos? :D Holiday or business related?

btw: It must be "Wenn ich nicht nach Australien fliegen würde am Freitag, würde ich meine Hilfe anbieten." - It's a form possibility => If I wouldn't go to Australia on Friday this week, I could have offered you my help. ;)

had a look at pick a part, i think i found the car, na 4g63 auto, appeared to used to be the 1.8, i got a pick of the maf, but cant find the cable for my phone now, but the numbers on it are R 0619 0
E5T02271
also got the ecu out as well, bit of a pita to get out, glad i have no plans of putting one back in lol, numbers on it are
ELC18D1
MD737019
G1T10073M1
ecu was a metal case with a 3 plug connection

Behind the glovebox, where the AYC ECU sits in our cars.

Hi Sean,

great news that is! It is the right MAF sensor! So I assume it'll have the right ECU with the correct numbers in it. And yes, the ECU is located near the glove box. You have to remove the lower nut and the cables and slide it out then.

Sean, please PM me your Paypal account, so that I can send some funds for you to buy the parts.

cheers
Stefan

by near, do you mean behind? should i just tear the car apart till i find it? lol

should i just tear the car apart till i find it? lol

If you want to, do that! :D

It is located left of the glove box, where you would expect the AYC-ECU on an 8G. You have to remove some plastic bits but I believe you should be able to read the numbers first if you open the glove box and look left...

btw, PM replied.

not quiet the ECU I expected. Seems the breaker has been produced pre-July 1990. But it's a ECU for the 4G67 engine with 135hp. Hope the car is a Galant "Viento" (maybe you can have a look at he badge on the trunk)

btw, have replied to your PM Sean. :)

Glad you managed to find your part Stefan, I've since returned... had to tear myself away from Bondi beach on Tuesday. It was great for "bird watching" ;) As for kangaroos, one doesn't have to look very far for them! (p.s. Trip was for pleasure, much Pilsner Urquell was consumed).
