Driving through town and I see a police van coming the other way, didn't bat an eyelid as I knew I had tax, mot, insurance, legal tyres, wasn't speeding etc etc. I see him indicate into a retail park, where the road turns 180 degrees and runs parallel with the main road I'm on. I keep an eye on my mirrors and he travels the full stretch of the road and pulls back onto the main road a few cars behind me.

He then persists to continue in the same direction as me changing lanes when I do and back again etc. (a little test of mine to see if im being followed). We get to the ring road and head round the roundabout he is now in the outside lane im on the inside. There is a slip road for Tesco off my lane and cars were queuing onto my lane so I slowed. The outside lane was clear yet the chopper (sorry, copper) slowed too and peeled in behind me.

I now had a raging suspicion that he was going to pull me over. A couple of miles down the road and out of the town centre, just as I thought to myself, 'he's going to pull me any minute', the blues come on. I pull over wind down the passenger window and switch off the engine. He approaches and asks me to step out of the car.

He then proceeded to tell me why he had pulled me over! I was speechless I couldn't believe that my taxes had paid for him to do this!!

Any guesses as to what pathetic reason he had for pulling me over? Answers on a postcard

Don't give me ideas Dave

you where driving the wrong way down the road?

Not this time

you had a small dog tied to your bumper like in national lampoons vacation?

Lol, no but even if I had I have a feeling he wouldn't have been bothered

they thought you where a hansom guy and wanted your number?

Thankfully not, as he was a bloke! Wouldn't have minded if I got pulled over by a chick for this reason

erm window tints ? exhaust to loud ?

Now these sorts of things you would've thought that maybe some jobsworth would be really uptight about and start getting you to remove tints etc at the roadside but it was even more stupid than that!

Not lowered

music to loud?

Currently have 2 stereos plumbed in but the internal car wiring loom is fecked so I have no tunes!!

thought it was a subaru

If that was his reason I think I would be banged up right now, for assaulting a police officer lol

I'll put you out of your misery Dave:

After I got out of the car he simply said to me, with an assertive and generally pi$$ed off tone, 'Why are your brakes squeaking sir?' to which I replied 'To be honest I've no idea, some brakes are loud some are not, its about finding the right disc and pad combination to suit your setup'.

He then said 'well they are probably squeaking for a reason sir, I suspect illegal pads or discs'

Yup that's right he pulled me over for Brembo squeal!!! He meticulously investigated every single disc and pad then said 'When did you fit these?' told him it was about 4 weeks ago and he got up and said 'Are you insured to drive the car sir?' to which I replied 'Yes'

He then said 'Okay your free to go' WTF!!!!

Wasn't bothered if I was insured or not, took my word for it, said absolutely nothing about the fact that my front numberplate is currently living on my dashboard and not on the bumper!

The bit that annoys me most was that he had to turn around IOT follow, me sat in traffic for 15mins before we got far enough out of the town centre to a suitable place to pull me over, was then 6 miles away from where he turned around, which now meant he had to make another 6 mile journey to get back to where he started putting him nearly an hour behind of what he was doing before simply because he was annoyed by the sound of my brakes!!!

Our taxes have paid for his petrol and his wages IOT for him to act like an arse!

He couldn't say anything about the number plate on the dash..
As the law states that the License plate should be displayed clearly at the front of the car.. Of which it was /yes

205's are proper cars.... I love them!

Ok, some pads are purely for race use, and yes the squeal can be an indication of such..... BUT..... if they pass an MOT surely they are legal? Not for road use/for competition use only can get you pulled on tyres, but then gravel tyres say this on them and they have a damn sight more than 1.6mm of tread!

I have been followed home many times in my old VR4. I was pulled over in the Beemer for... and I quote "driving an old car". Sometimes they have to do something before Krispy Kreme opens!

I had that exact same thing in my old 205gti! His little mate was going over the (brand new r888's) tyres and he was just chatting to me about it!
