View Full Version : Clutch is behaving a bit weird...

Today my clutch is behaving a little different, still changes gear fine, smoothly and engages as normal, but....

When the pedal is released, it feels sticky - also the brake pedal moves at the same time, it moves as the clutch pedal is between half way and fully released. That's not normal, is it?

What could cause this?

They are completely seperate systems. The pedals are not connected in any way other than they both bolt to the bulkhead. The hydraulic systems are seperate. I'm at a loss to explain brakes pedal movement correlating to clutch pedal movement unless the bulkhead is flexing.

Could something have caught behind the pedals so when you press one the other goes?

Get your head underneath the dash with a torch & have a look at where the clutch/brake pedal mounting brackets attach to the bulkhead. One of them may have cracked or detached causing the whole assembly to flex or move around. Do you have a heavier clutch in the car?

The clutch pedal and brake pedal are completely seperate. The do not directly touch in any way. They both bolt to the bulkhead individually. I'm not saying it is impossible for one to cause the movement of another through the bulkhead, but there would have to be something a bit strange going on!

You are not missing any small animals at your house Barry?

haha, no... but i have checked in engine, no sign of any wee beasties!

Also, it seems to have stopped doing it now - How very odd, nothing was jammed (bottle of water for example) between clutch and brake, nothing in engine bay that shouldn't be there, clown shoes were not worn and pedal housing was secure on bulkhead...

/shrug

Thanks for the replies guys, if it happens again... i'll be back.
