i recently purchased a funnel but it has a bit missing. the bit that hangs from the bottom. is this a problem or possibly to my advantage if i can connect a second feed to it?

what bit that hangs from the bottom, pics needed.
as far as i know there is not supposed to be anything that hangs from the bottom of the funnel bit. if there is a hole in the bottom of the funnel bit then someone else will have tried to fit an other cold air feed to the funnel. as i don't think it should be there.

Vr4's don't use that funnel because it's only used on N/A v6 engines plus the snorkel is to small to fit the vr4 airbox!

If it fits yours then the airbox is not a vr4 turbo one! & is to small

i bought a funnel and airbox from a VR4 Steve. i havent got round to fitting it yet but i did notice a hole in the bottom of the funnel which i assumed was a bulbous thing like the funnel in my V6

i shall take a pic. i have to go and fit my front number plate again anyway. it was sat on the bonnet of my V6 yesterday and i couldnt fit it with sticky pads as it was raining so i now have it stuck on the bracket supplied with the V6. just need to screw it on to the VR4. and jump start the V6 so i can move it to its final position before it is immobilised on saturday

Richie, I'm sure that you have combo (box+snorkel) from Galant V6. That bit you describing as missing was only feature of Galant n/a due to naturally aspirated induction (air resonance box).
Pretty sure that former owner had some aftermarket kit, but before sell he did fit stock Galant intake.
Beware that air boxes from vr4 and Galant n/a differ only by intake funnel entry diameter, other than that, they are the same.

Looks a bit mangled to me the front opening is all bent out of shape and the hole in the bottom is not stock vr4. It looks like the spacer has been removed from the front opening which is why the shape has collapsed.
And I am not sure what that bit is on the bottom at the front is.

VR-4s do not have the resonance chamber on the intake funnel. That one must have come from a non-turbo. You might want to compare with a VR-4 to make sure the airbox inlet is the correct size, otherwise it might be collapsing in on itself, causing a engine hiccup and loss of power.

As stated previously!!!!!

That is a mullard N/A V6 one!

I have often thought about adding a cold air feed pipe from the front grill up to the airbox as an additional air feed. I am fitting a K&N filter soon and have read a number of times on here that the standard box with a good filter in it is good for 400bhp

Is there any advantage to adding another cold air feed to the standard box or does it just mess up the air flow and create more turbulence??

I have only one feed to the air box and that's it as you see in pic
