So this morning i went to change my oil, put the engine flush in, let it idle for 15 minutes then went to drain it. For some reason my sump plug was on way too tight and i couldn't get it off for the life of me. So now i need to get my car to a garage to have them take it off and change the oil /pan but i have engine flush still in the engine. Will it be ok to drive my car a short distance to a garage with the engine flush still in it? >.<

One option is to take the whole sump off. Otherwise see if there is someone in the club or who you know who has suitable tools to help.

no,

take the sump off,

buy a new one, the thread will be more than likely buggered anyway

What are you using to take it off with? If you haven't got a power bar or anything, just use a hammer and hit the spanner you are using.

If it comes out and is buggered, the go get a sump

Or get a tube that you can slot onto the crescent. :-) Thats how i managed to do the control arms on my car over the weekend.

Taking the sump off probably isn't an option as I have bugger all tools, my sump plug has nearly rounded off but I have a new one. Was using a wrench

Open spanner or ring end? Really should use a single hex socket to undo tight bolts etc

sounds like a perfect time to invest in proper tools then,

cheaper than a new engine.

Had the same problem once, MMC on the North Shore used a rattle gun (or a gorilla) to tighten my sump plug - eventually called a mobile mechanic to get it off and he struggled with the good tools too.

Going to see if any Wellington members can help or I will see if I can get a mobile mechanic over. There is a mechanic down the bottom of my hill, which I could glide down to in neutral?

I drove my GDI for over 10 miles with engine flush - kept the revs to below 2,000 rpm.

I only have to go about 200 to the mechanic, 150 can be done going downhill in neutral.

I would be surprised if 200 metres at low revs would damage the engine.

If you have a dremmel cut a line right down the centre of the bolt, but not too deep and use a good screwdriver to get it out.

Most dealerships use a suction pump and don't bother with the sump plug.
You can buy a manual suction pump / syphon hose etc. You take the dipstick out, put the tube down the dipstic holder, suck all the oil out, and then re fill through cap.
Some modern cars don't actually have sump plugs anymore.

I quite like the idea of the sump plug replacements - they are basically a valve that you open up to drain the oil. No more stuck sump plugs...

M14 x 1.5 is what's showing up for me for almost all Mitsis.
