Ball joints

Have you lowered your VR4? And have you had any ball joints break?

Want to lower mine and my mate say don't as they always breaking ball joints

Yes the ball joints are a week point. That said, I never changed ball joints in my legnum or galant. They were both lowered and I did about 80,000 km in each.

My mates galant is standard height with less k's and I have don't all 4 front lower arms

they wear anyway Ben. my V6 was on standard springs and needed them before i put coilies on it. lowering might add a bit of stress to the ball joints but they will need replacements anyway at some point

Sounds like my mate doesn't want me to lower it or really want to help me replace them when they need replacing.

Yeah, you're likely to be shortening their life, but probably in the order of something like from 100,000kms to 80,000kms.

Yeah i might look at replacing them when i lower it, Got to do few other things on it very soon and plus the car has done over 183,000kms so who know if they every been replace before.

straight arm ball joint? easy as to replace anyway lol, just not cheap, think my mate got his for about $250 for 2

I would be more concerned about drop links life being dramatically shorter and track rod ends.
Since got stiffer and harder suspension those two need to be replaced every year in my vr4. But these are anyway not expensive servicing parts hence I'm not bothered tho.

That's interesting. In both mine the only suspension related item I replaced was a tie rod on my legnum. That was done because it got bent when someone ran into me
