Hi all,
I might be an Internet biff but is the 3000gt just a stroked version of the legnum engine and do they use the same turbos? It's just it would broaden the search when I get the money to stop my leggie smoking under deceleration.
Cheers for any information offered
Marc

Definitely different turbos, and THINK its a different block,

To change to 3000gt turbos would involve lots of work & be 5-6x the price of just sticking to TD03's so avoid unless you want to get involved in a serious overhaul

Cheers I was just thinking out loud and I was sure somebody would have already thought the same, I'm usually behind the drag curve ha

The blocks are completely different - IIRC the 6G72's are cast iron blocks, and ours are alloy. In addition the engines are 'round the wrong way' in the GTOs/3000GT.

I've looked at the turbos that normally come on the GTO, and they are not much better than ours according to the compressor maps - however you could make them hybrid by getting a larger compressor wheel and leaving the standard exhaust wheel, then getting the compressor side machined slightly if required. It's a lot of work though.

Both engines have cast iron blocks.

Ahh my bad, must be the heads I'm thinking of then?

no both engines have alloy heads and iron blocks. both have forged cranks. but thats where the similarilltys end
they have different bore and stroke. and the engines share no parts that i am aware of. we have td03 where 6g72 use twin td04. long story short gto/3k gt turbos wont fit out engines
