Quick one, my mate has a 52 plate 2.0 Galant with a dud gearbox. He bought one from an 1996 8g assuming it would be a direct swap, not knowing that the driveshafts are a different size. The later ones are 27 dia & I think the earlier ones are 25 but could someone please confirm. I think he wants to buy replacement suitable shafts rather than swap the internals over

Cheers

Chris

It is manual but they need to be from one of the very first 8g's IIRC as they changed mid 1997

got you. its a FL but needs PFL driveshafts. i would check scrapyards. they do appear there sometimes but not many people break PFL non VR4s

Yeah its a bit of a sod as he didn't realise but think the very first of the 8g boxes are the same as 7g ones. Most PFL will be the same as FL but not his /pan

sounds like the luck i had with the rear diff. when i got a non AYC rear diff then found out the shafts are longer. or when i had brembos fitted, wheels wouldnt fit and then the stock brakes wouldnt fit back on

Most manufacturers seem to standardise parts to keep manufacturing costs down. Far too sensible for Mitsubishi to do /pan
