I just came back from Elvington to watch the warm up for TOTBII (http://www.trackdayplus.com) i then dropped of my mate, joined motorway at trafford centre right behind an EVOIII INSERT INTO post VALUES (i think)

Ah race time i though, so i turned on the camera, and started recording..
http://www.clubvr4.co.uk/misc/1.JPG

once the traffic cleared we had a bit of fun, got up to {edit}MPH and had to slow down again, once traffic cleared we shot off again, this time i was gaining on him :devil3: slowly the revs got up to 7000 in 4th and he pulled in to let me past..

however, the next juntion was my junction, so i just pulled into inside lane, nearly knocking a biker off his bike :nono:

then he went past in the outside lane, nodded heads, but then this happened..

:Cry1:

so i pulled in behind him had a chat, made sure he was ok, the car was drivable and then i left him to it...

poor soul, hope its an easy fix..

just as i was walking away, he said "thats pretty quick isnt it" i agreed, and jumped in the car...

i feel like an extra out of police camera action! :D

Thats true - Evo drivers are better than Scooby drivers anyday and I am sure I would stop and help one too.

Wow, that camera is cool!!!!!!
Is it really expensive? Also any chance of a little explanation as to how to do it etc???

I want one !

BraindG
14-07-2003, 10:54 PM
basically..

buy bullet cam £100
buy video recorder. £1500
buy power invertor.. £20 INSERT INTO post VALUES (providing the bullet cam requires 240V)
8 cable ties £0.10
1 video extension cable £1.99
some speaker cable £0.25 INSERT INTO post VALUES (used to extend power cable for bullet cam)

cut into the grill.. drill a couple holes to cable tie the bulelt camera in.. run wires into cabin.. plug video into video camera and power into invertor...

if you want a more detailed outline, with pictures, i dont mind popping out and taking a few snaps..

Thanks for that, yeah some pics would be nice although i would defo need to find a cheaper video recorder recorder..............but the potential is massive! I drive home each night over some very dodgey roads through Tottington and edgeworth if anybody knows them, always wanted to be able to film my drive home and show my friends the VR4s true potential!!!!!!!

Okay now it all makes sense.......digital video camera???? Not so expensive after all i have one:D , seriously considering it now....after new brakes, exhaust, front bumper......INSERT INTO post VALUES (endless list of wants!!!!:Ponder: )
Also how have you manged to ensure that the videa recorder stays still and doesnt fall?
Any chance of some real life country road footage?

ok. :D ill talk to the hosting company.. see if i can "borrow" some extra space for a 50MB file... ill go for a spin tomorrow afternoon after work.. :)

im having problems with the recording of the sound though.. so might just be visuals only... :INSERT INTO post VALUES (

oh, and ive still not sorted out my tyres, so ill have to go slow round some corners etc.. but.. i can put up something so you get the feel of how it looks...

ah.. and it doesnt fall out cos of my super strenght in making sure the cable ties are tight

right.. it compresses it really quite well.. so im in the middle of compressing the larger file, jsut to see how large it actually is.. but for now heres the evo mpeg (http://www.clubvr4.co.uk/misc/evo.mpg) only 2MB....

INSERT INTO post VALUES (i moved this tread cos i jsut realised the "kills" forum is open to the public

You can tell he had some problem there waiting to happen, that short blast of smoke didn't look that healthy, what do you think happened? turbo?

He started pulling hard a second or two before the end of that clip INSERT INTO post VALUES (unless you were slowing).

BraindG
15-07-2003, 08:10 PM
i was slowing, there was a car coming up infront of him, and my brakes arnt up to it.. so i lifted of way before we arrived at it... just incase, cos we were going kinda fast.. INSERT INTO post VALUES (of course, within the speed limit)

im uploading the other clip now.. 16MB... makes more sense in that..

BraindG
15-07-2003, 08:23 PM
ok here we go... bear in mind this is still only a few minutes of the actuall "play-about"... infact, its only the last part.. when he lets me in..

{edit, hang on its not all there - uploading it again}

the rest ive not uploaded cos it would take up to much space..

enjoy..

Brind, he thought it was jsut a ring or something that blew.. but your right. the back smoke when changing down the gears, wasnt healthy looking...:Cry1:

Brind
15-07-2003, 08:38 PM
Looks like you got out the car to give him a slap! struttin' ya stuff.:D

Could be either, after he went past it was blowing out constant, I blew the rings on my first car which was a Sapphire 1.8LX, but that was chucking out black smoke through the exhaust where the oil was pumping past the rings.. there was oil everywhere under the bonnet too.
Can't make out whether it's black smoke or not?
Could you hear it?

Gonna be expensive no doubt..

BraindG
15-07-2003, 08:40 PM
the smoke was blue/white - as per engines blowing in F1...

im just uploading it again, was about 1MB short.

Ok, calm down on the whole £1500 for the camera matey plops, lol.

The absolute minimum requirement to be able to do this, is "AV-in, or "analogue in". This is required for the buller camera to plug into.

I have a Cannon MV500i, which was only £499 new at Christmas, prolly cheaper now, and it does the job quite nicely. The camera has a pretty small lense, but since you are using a bullet cam for these shots it doesn't matter.

£100 for the bullet cam kit INSERT INTO post VALUES (including mic) but not including AV cable. You should get the cable with a new camera.

Try and get a fire-wire kit with the camera also, but use Windows software to hook it up, throw away any firewire software you get with a firewire card ;)

Sonique foundry Vegas Video to edit. Huge range of features but simple to use.

Dave.

I find the Windows XP movie maker isn't too bad, using firewire also.
The only problem with that is that you can't convert 'Windows' format into DivX or anything else because of copyright crap, so DV is the best option although it requires HUGE amount of space.

My camera cost just over £700 on special offer almost 2 years ago.. maybe we should make a compromise on the price! :D
