That one is a little rough so I would says yours would be worth a little more then that.

That said, no one ever said buying a car was a good money making investment! :p

And to think it the base model was $65,000 "new", let alone the cost of options.

QFT :)

I never buy a car as a captial investment (ie where I expect some level of depreciation with a value at the end of it's use to me), they're always expense items - ie the cost of it is written off and no longer remains on my mental books. If anything, I only value it, in my own mind, by what ever the next car would cost me to replace it. :)

I looked recently at cleaning up my VR-4 and selling it for a FL or another car - but after the amount of time, money and TLC put into it, it just wasn't worth selling to me.

Unfortunately they are really cheap nowadays and you just get young kids buying them without any appreciation of what kind of car they really have - as long as it goes woosh they are happy.

Not necessarily true, i'm 18, I appreciate my car. Although the woosh part is a bonus ;)

Well $3,650 must make it one of the best bang-for-buck cars.

I paid $20k for mine 9 years, and 120,000km ago. Still can't bear to part with it!

$20k? Ouch. I found the papers for mine when it came into the country - 89,000km and $12,000 in 2001 from Turners.

Yeah was a bit on the high side, but I had test driven some real lemons before mine. It had done only 55,000km, and had the adjustable suspension and the custom front so I was pretty smitten haha.

I think the only way to justify spending so much money on your car is that its a hobby lol and hobbies cost money

I was thinking about getting a cheaper car to run, but with about $1,000 per year maintenance now and work effectively paying for my petrol via km allowance, I really do not need to.

Most people I have heard about who have sold theirs, regret their decision. I don't want to be one of them.

I honestly think that, for my purposes anyway, it's the perfect daily drive / all rounder. If only it did 45 mpg and didn't suffer from the "I'm 15 years old, so everything's going to fall off" syndrome.
