Does it have to be certified?

Reason I ask is you could make one to fit exactly how you want, then get a removable ball hitch and bolt it to the girder you just welder to the rear chassis rails.

Did you not get the standard Galant estate over there?

You can adapt the Galant estate tow bar to fit, by cutting two notches in the rail where the AYC pump assembly retained nuts fit. I have now mounted my electrics separately underneath the bumper, so that I can simply unbolt the tow ball from the tow bar assembly, using a 19mm socket and spanner. /yes

I dread to think what the postage of a full tow bar would be to Oz - the whole thing must weigh 40kgs or so. :o

he wants the tongue to be removable, not just the ball....

it would have to custom made. you cant get that off the shelf here either

Apparently the magna wagons rear is different so that one wont fit . if it would fit i would grab it regardless of removeable tounge. Just pefer removeable one to save my shins and knees when walking around car lol.

Here is a pic from low down which shows what you can see when the tow ball has been removed, i.e. the two 'prongs' into which the tow ball fits, and you can just see the electrics on the right:

This is the modification required to the tow bar chassis rail on the AYC side:

That picture is from the full tow bar fitting guide (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?27542-Towbar-Advice-for-VR4-Legnum-Estate) in the members' area.

That's a Galant estate tow bar. Witter model CL73.

We didn't get the Magna, so I can't say how much difference there is.

Towequipe is a very good UK supplier of Witter stuff, and here is their listing (http://www.towequipe.co.uk/products/towbars-and-towbar-wiring-mitsubishi-galant-flange-fixed-towbar/witterkit-cl73-witter-fixed-flange-towbar-kit-fits-mitsubishi-galant-estate-1997-to-2003.html) for the Galant estate one.

Here's another seller, on eBay, that offers international shipping on their Witter one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Witter-Towbar-for-Mitsubishi-Galant-Estate-1997-2003-Flange-Tow-Bar-/280655138780?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Touring_Travel&fits=Model%3AGalant&hash=item4158598fdc&vxp=mtr).

Both are a very good price. :deal2:
