I am after a set of BK121's 18". Just wondered if anyone has 18's on their car.

I think mine will be 18x8 and as close to standard offset as poss with 235/40/18 tyres

Nice wheels - but some members with 18's aren't happy and wish they had only gone to 17's. Interlec (Derek) for example - he has had problems keeping the rim edges from damaging. Also believe they make the ride questionably hard ?

Yeah agree they make the ride hard as I have 18" RS4 reps on my A6, they came off my S2 and you can deffo tell it makes it harder. Also must be very careful with pot holes etc as there aint much tyre depth

17's were and are my preference, also bear in mind the extra cost for tyres ;)

I have BBS Rx 18's on mine (I think the exact same ones as Sulli's from his recent pictures).

I don't see the ride as being harsh in them at all, but I have recently been tempted by a downsize purely based on the cost of replacement tyres. My last set of F1's from a very cheap source would have been enough money to buy 5 17" tyres and still have change :rolleyes5

Decided against it in the end; it's all a question of personal taste, but I think they make a white VR4 look awesome (and I don't usually like white cars ;) ).

I have 18 x 8 speedlines on mine with toyo proxes t1s and like Jimbo I don't find the ride any different from the 17's but you do get abit more road noise from them. As Jimbo says at the end of the day it's down to personal choice and the fact I couldn't get my Brembos' under the 17's :$

... the fact I couldn't get my Brembos' under the 17's :$

Something for me to think about, when I upgrade my brakes.

Oh yes you can just get a piece of paper between the wheel and the brembo if you breath in :-D  but the look is awesome and well worth it :thumb1:

I wondered about the differences in VR4 and V6 here... as my V6 had 8.5 inch wide 19 inch rims and 40mm drop.. and didnt have any problems until 255 went on rears... I was being a bit too optimistic and shudve stuck to 235s :lipsrseal but needed more tyrewall rubber as 35 profiles on london roads was not enough esp with the weight of the wagon!

Due to local tyre prices decided to stick with the extra rubber :D on 17s with 215f225r/45 profiles... The ride is hardish on VR4 so cant imagine was 18s on a 35 profile is like??? :rolleyes5

I was under the impression that no evos come out with 18's, and hence a set of 17s should be fine. Just need to check clearances between the caliper and the spokes is all.

It's to do with the offset - I didn't personally have enough with the alloys I had to accomodate the brembos. I believe that because the evo's had brembos on they had alloys with the correct offset in the first place. I had to have new alloys so decided to go bigger :greedy: :-D

18s are fine on mine, BBS RXs, with 225/40/18s. Ride is smooth but firm ;)
The missus has 225/35/18s on hers, and the difference is huge - much harder ride, and less comfort - that extra 5% makes a difference.
I guess I could drop my car at least 40mm with them on too, with no probs.
Remember though, make sure you get the rolling radius to stay the same, so speedo is still accurate.

I have 18 x 8s on. Wrong offset and pcd for the car, so spacers/convertors used too. 225/40 x 18 michelin pilot sport 2's on. Still there's only a mm or 2 clearance between inside of rear tyre and upper suspension arm. Nothing's ever rubbed, though.

You will find that most people that complain about the ride on 18s have cheap tyres on.

The car is probably dropped 40-50mm.

Piccies here:

8" wheels and a big drop does make the back wheels look like they've got about 3 degrees of negative camber on them. Quite mean looking and good for mental cornering, but a bit poor for even tyre wear!

You can see it most in this one, although it's when driving behind the car that you really notice it.
