same here ive never been a fan of that red on the legnums. still not really on PFL's but theres one on here with a facelift front on it in that red and I quite like it. i think its ianturbo?

less money imo.. personal projects never sell for original Mitsubishi style. unless its a show car. which this isn't.

as for the loud exhaust.. yes, your right.. all VR4's sound great.. but given how hes written it, im guessing its some dodgy supercheapauto bodge job.. (guessing and assuming here lol)

id say this car has serious problems.

i viewed an Evo5 in auckland.. guy said he was "leaving the country soon and needed quick sale".. from the outside.. it was original and mint.. underneath.. good lawd.. it was bad.. steering rack gaiters were missing, diff was covered in oil. gearbox was leaking. transmission whined.. brakes were wraped and shuddered badly on braking... he wanted to get rid of it quick, hence why "leaving the country"..

thats a pretty turbo for a 2.5. by 76/28 i assume he means gt2871
about similar to a 18g td05 I think.

but with the hard work done on manifolds etc it would be easy to bolt a bigger turbo on.

That's Dom B from the forums here - he was over in NZ for a bit, and I know he bought a VR4 to use while over here.

The car was owned by one of Q's mates and he converted it to open diff rather than ayc. The stickers are prob one of the ones made by Carsten back in the day(I remember most of Q's cars had them at the time.
Was actually surprised to see that it its a genuine manual vr4, not a converted chassis too.

well when i got it had the vacuum hose had been pull off the p.o.v and block up put was still leaking, boost gauge vacuum went to nowhere random wires going to no where in engine bay , did u own it adam ?

Go for lows bro and get tein's or dobi's. Was going get dobi's for the vr4 but rear spring rate is wrong for the leggie's so went with teins,

The thing with adjustables is... you need a cert. but ya don't need certs for superlows normally.

but super lows usually handle like s**t. unless you get them with the stock shocks shortened/modified or aftermarket shocks to match the springs. which ends up costing as much as getting decent adjusties with cert anyways.

My car was lowered when I got it - I had to bring it back to standard height as it was just stupidly low and really harsh for every day driving.
The Legnums usually scrape over a bump at standard height, let alone lowering it.

The only reason I'm going coilovers over lowering springs is because a) the set I bought were cheap and b) I only want to lower it slightly, while retaining a comfortable ride.

It sounds like they are using a "one map for all" approach which really isn't that great an idea, as all engines run differently.

This guy contacted me on Trademe and was insistent that he wanted to swap his plastic case ECU with my metal case one, so I said sure and did it (lol!). The valve stem seals are gone on his engine, it smokes like crazy at low idle - he's adjusted the idle up to stop it smoking.

It's a very tidy car though and goes pretty well otherwise.

cheers lol thats the one im wanting to paint just because it has a few imperfections and it total ruins the car :( I really want to keep it original but the more time goes on the more i want to lower it with some wide as 100spoke rims redo the seats in leather and put a 383stroker into it tint the windows maybe get it vinyl wrapped in matt black and the chrome redone it has so much chrome then put a 383 stroker and it will be a beast matt black and chrome, need to get rid of the bent exhaust as put just some chrome straight pipes tint the tail lights and remove the towball. but then i would have ruined a nice car with my boyish charm. but it would be awesome!

quite a few different opinions on that commy, i only like it because the paint tbh. that could be done on any car with a v8 and it'l be just as cool, just how the engine blends in and everythings all painted different and its mint.

But then again the cars i like are always the one of a kind cars I just like being different and owning stuff others wouldnt. . . . I remember i saw this on trademe 65972 So i brought it!! 10k later, this is what i sold my 300zx my roadbike and my seaboat for. I had been talking to the guy for ages asking so many questions because it was in auckland and i didnt have time to fly up and view. So i took his word and brought it.

This is what is was when it arrived. Trust me i was not happy. I raged and rung the guy he refused to give my money back i took him to court and won the case but took 9months of waiting then got paid back like $1,000 every 1-2months back it was still a stupid outcome. but i learnt my lesson not to buy anything unseen. he told me it just needed 1 tyre and a seatbelt for a wof and it was rust free. you should of seen the rust holes in the floor! you couldnt even stand on anything without your foot falling through the roof pillars were none exsisting and the thing wasn't fixable. picture doesnt even make it look as bad as it was.

i got to keep the car because i was never refunded my 2grand for shipping it to the south island and i ended up selling it for 3g. there are only a very few left of them in the world it was a 1978 factory lincoln limo with a ford 460 v8, yeah now when buying cars i make sure i view them drive them has a brand new wof and receipts but i did all this with my legnum but once i got home found out the receipts were fake! i guess i just have bad luck. Going back to the cop shop next week about them making fake receipts and hopefully they will get done for fraud because now the cars costed me an extra $1200 for a new cambelt that was supposably been just done with receipts but its 45,000kms over on the stock belt and hasn't been touched.

on the bright side i do love my legnum it goes so well it does have heaps of other hidden small problems but slowly working through them, have fixed a few already it was just the cambelt which i was p'ed off about because of the cost involved

Know someone that had a legnum with chrome wheels and it looked pretty good. It might end up on trademe soon with a broken side mirror and other damage after the new owner crashed it into a farm fence last night lol. Driving past a car towing 50 metres of fencing wire a couple of km's into town is pretty hilarious and depressing at the same time considering it's a VR4 that I admired.

I would keep mine since I had just spend around $2000 on the engine plus mine has a sunroof and has few more mods done to it haha and I like while more then silver. If I did buy the super, Would only swap the bits I want for mine then on sale it

It wouldnt open correctly if the airbag deployed, its basically sitting on the airbag in that condition. TBH you can get though wof's no probs with lots of things missing or in a condition like that as they only care about the regs...

Please read carefully people before thinking your a vtnz wof inspector by trade. The VIRM clearly states that the SRS it AIRBAG lights must function as factory set. Now if the self check systems go through their normal operation fine then there is NO issue with the bag. The cover is a steel plate glued in place designed to flip up in a crash of wich this WILL still do so. The car was bought as is in pics and is sold as in pics. But if you want I will supply a replacement dash at xtra cost.

The VIRM also states (can't remember the exact wording) that if anything will cause the bag to deploy incorrectly it's a fail. It's the same if you stick something to the cover.
The amount of his dodgy and uncerted cars he sells he must have a mate at VTNZ

The paintwork he got someone else to do. He also ripped off someone else's idea of a Legnum ute... badly (IIRC Scott started with the idea?). And then denied it when asked about it from what I saw.

The guy is basically just a parts fitter, and doesn't appear to have much mechanical ability.
