I have my car booked in tomorrow to get gearbox and AYC fluids changed. Is there anything else I should get done at same time? i.e transfer box and rear diff? If so, how much should this cost at a main dealer.
All advice appreciated.
By the way, it's the 49,500 service - cambelt done at last one.
Thanks

I bought my car two weeks ago, I get paid at the end of every month, and since buying my car i've spent £300. So, there is no spare £20 yet!
Thanks for your help though, much appreciated

It is Simply an "A" service after your Cambelt service. Your Dealer should know what that it.

Service intervals are A B A C A B A C A B A D and then the series starts again.

At 4,500 or 6 monthly intervals, whichever is the lessor in kms. And it excludes oild changes.

I just get mine serviced at the 4500 mile interval and decide what needs doing when I arrive.... :D

So, thats always the engine oil and AYC wheel bits. I ask them to check all fluids and anything for wear and tear, and its always when the screen wash gets near empty, so they fill that up as well (and get all four jets working for me again... )

I DO NOT let them near my ATF. I go to a different place for that. I just don't trust them. :|

I am yet to get a service under £400 because I have always requested other stuff to be done. New brake pads, total AYC flush, swap this bit, new one of these please... etc etc. :$

Next service is due in 1000 miles, although I will be doing the oil this week, as a pre-flush. I bet that my service is still over £300, not sure why, but I bet it is.... :rolleyes5

Dropped my car off first thing, and picked it up after work.
I had asked that they flush and change the auto box fluid, change AYC fluid, and check both transfer box and rear diff, and change fluids if necessary.
They changed the ATF and AYC fluids, and checked the transfer and diff and found them to be OK, and fluids looked fairly new.
Also checked over the car, advised me on a couple of things that will need doing in a while (low tread on one tyre and rear exhaust section on it's way out) - so not looking for more work for themselves.
On my return I checked ATF dipstick - nice clear new oil at max level, and AYC had nice fresh red fluid up to max.
So - what did this cost me?
The grand total of £65!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chuffed to bits - nice friendly service manager, did me a very good deal indeed. Recommended :)

The only car forum I know on the Net where answers cost money (without hardcore porn with it anyway).
All of this pressure is counter-productive you know - even members here are a little embarrassed by it
This is what I spend any spare cash I have on:

I get paid at the end of the week, and was intending to join, but this constant barrage is a bit of a joke really

I just want the naked chicks, er.. I mean, the name of the garage that performed the service. I get my naked chicks free from winmx... ;)

The car looks smashing m8, it's a numleg, so I'm biased - would be good to see it in the flesh on the CVR4 stand at one of the meets / trackdays this year.

We're a very friendly bunch really and please bring the missus & nipper too, there's plenty of us who bring children- you can't say that for most of the other Jap clubs.................it even stretches to a CVR4 babysitting service while Dads go on the track (thanks Alex!).

All the Commitee are volunteers who put in a lot of effort to keep the website updated & organise the excellent events during the year. All members want to see the Club flourish so please forgive us if it seems the 'CVR4' drum is banged a little loud on occasion. ;)

Oak Tree Mitsubishi in Coventry did the service - based on this, my first visit, i'd highly recommend them.
Cheers Wirdy - the car won't be going on track - can't afford they tyre/brake costs, or the risk of doing some damage to the gearbox or anything else. maybe it's cause i've just got the car, but from all i've heard about the cost when things go wrong, I am treating her with kid gloves. I can't afford any major bills (contrary to what Keiran said, I must be in a minority of being a poor VR4 owner :( )
One thing I haven't found out, is exactly what membership gets you - had a look at the info section, but it isn't that clear - can someone tell me what i get, and what the members section has in it :) (Not verbatim, obviously, wouldn't want to upset anyone else ;) )

You're not the only one who has to run a VR4 properly, but on a 'minimum spending' policy. ;) ..........a colossal £35K legal bill just paid..nuff said :(

Still take it on the track though...nothings broken yet, but good maintenance keeps that risk to the absolute minimum. A cheap set of track wheels (there are plenty of honda / nissan / evo owners who ditch their standard wheels for peanuts second-hand. Brand new (rally proven) Colway remoulds come in at a whopping £29 each. :-D

You've struck lucky with your first experience of dealer service & long may it continue.. I would have said that I and a few others have written articles in the members section that take you through step-by-step things like AYC fluid cx, diff oil cx, engine oil cx, brake strips, suspension changes. Also plenty of workshop manual info (semi-complete though, as this info is like rocking horse poo to get out of the dealers).......But if you can get your fluids changed / inspected for £65, then it's not worth blowing the dust off your toolbox to be honest.

Members get price concessions for entry to events & of course a place on the stand (which is normally a damn sight closer to the show / event than the public car park (great if you have kids & the associated paraphenalia to carry). Just pop your hatch up and have a picnic ;)

Up until now I have kept quiet - but with yet another thread containing moans and groans on both sides I feel it's time to speak.

Firstly, we could have made this a members only club - but we haven't as we wish to attract new members and more info. Of course there are times when the paying members get a little ticked off by non-members wanting free advice, usually the first few occassions arn't an issue but often joining is mentioned early if it appears the person concerned is a genuine enthusiast as the discounts/benefits far outway the membership cost.

The majority of members are also protective of the money they have invested. They want to see the club flourish and grow and we need funds to do this - there is no shame in this and as you commented "we do not need to justify" ourselves either.

The simple fact is, we want you to join - but if you don't then thats your choice. I don't recall any forum user causing such a stir before over this topic, so there must be a reason for this ? In a way it has helped the committee focus on the importance of our membership and some new restrictions on non-members are currently being discussed and MAY be implimented soon, so in a way thank you for standing up and being counted - it may make our future joining policies more strict.

I hope you have already seen the enthusiasm for CVR4 we all have, and I for one would welcome you as a full member........until then, let's all cut the crap and get back to the fun ! ;)

The grand total of £65!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I smell fish!

10 litres of ATF will cost more than that from a Mitsubishi Dealer, also an AYC change on its own will amount to £50ish.

Take a look at the group buy on ATF fluid that has been started and you will see the regular price for oil is around the £100 mark. :lipsrseal

No it's true-mine only costs £55 cos I'm trade. They really are a nice dealer but we do tend to treat them with sceptisim with all the dodgy buggers out there. Sulli did say though that this was a one off to welcome him and encourage him to go back. They have only ever charged me in the region of £250 for full service. What will be interesting though is my cambelt is due for a change in June so I will see how much that one is :rolleyes5

He charged me the cost of ATF fluid, for the AYC fluid, as he said that the AYC fluid was stupidly expensive.
As Red said, it was done at that rate firstly because they want me to come back, secondly cause we had a good chat and he probably saw me as an enthusiast and good potential customer.
Next time wont be so cheap I guess, but I am happy now as car is sorted but for the tyres. :D

Just took the plunge and booked my new toy in for a fluid change at a Lincoln Mitsubishi. I've never had a car serviced at a dealer before so it's an even bigger worry that I could get ripped off.
Spent a lot of time looking on the forums about what things should be done and how much they should cost.
Price quoted for AYC fluid change £90 all in. I'm also having the ATF done which takes it up to the £165 with a few other checks and bits and bobs.
Price for 36k service quoted at £450, but I will be having 45k (cambelt) service around april.
They didn't ask "VR what?" which was a relief and they have serviced one once before.
Although somewhat cheeky I asked how do the mechanics know what to do if if isn't something they do regular, and was told they have 2 ralliart technicians that have attended a whole host of courses, no only that but they have had a lot of experience with EVO's. They understood my concern and I am welcome to stay while they do the work and can even watch to an extent. They had a genuine interest in my car and were not at all worried about MUT compatability with it being and import.

I feel confident that they know what they are talking about and will post my findings once it has been in.

Just had mine in at 64150 miles for an 18000 mile service.

The standard cost for this was £315.

Cost me £430

Needed two new wiper blades.
Alternator belt needed replacing.

Do they always tell you excl vat prices at these dealers.

Oh and I need too new tyres on the front. Which is excluded from the above price.

They still cannot fing the groaning from when braking and turning at low speed. I told em to put the foot on the brake when stationary and turn the wheel. Still no avail...
