OK, they look nice but do they go?

What sort of power levels are people running in Japan? In the UK we are lucky to see 350BHP.

I have pushed up to 450BHP with Nitrous but nobody is really tapping the true potential. Skylines can crack 600BHP and they are almost commonplace at this power............ :dozey:

The one that got away - this is the car that my auction agent cancelled the bid on because they'd 'forgot' to mention the after-market intercooler on the auction sheet (posted about this in my 'importing' thread).

http://fcarcsi.com/images/Purple%20Legnum.jpg

As you can see, the intercooler's pretty obvious peeking out beneath the reg plate! Car appeared a few days later on OnePrice.net with the original alloys x 3 + a space saver spare on the back for 500,000 yen. I'd already bought another car by then, and I was concerned that if they'd swapped the alloys, what else could have gone that I can't see....

Anyway, sold recently in it's stripped down state for 506,000 yen at auction. Original winning bid (with car as in pic): 456000. Argh.

Yum I do like the look of that a lot...

Thats dark grey right? (not seen one in that colour?) or is it my monitor .. meaning the car is prolly purple?

The exterior mods on that look just right.. It looks like its been lowered too..
any other mods mentioned?

Nice looking car indeed

Colour 'T08' on the auction sheet, which is indeed purple! The translation of the mods was:
Limitter Cut, Height Adjuster, Non Genuine 17 inch Aluminum Wheel, Non Genuine Exhaust, Genuine Full Aero Parts, Non Genuine Bonnet, Recaro Driver's Seat

With another note by the assesor saying 'many non-standard parts', which I gues means he did not know what he was looking at. As far as I can make out, things like aftermarket turbo's and intercoolers must be mentioned specifically, and the car is automatically graded '0' regardless of condition. Which is why I ended up missing out :(

I did not think the EVO had a V6.

It's the 6A12 7G version that they're on about I think.

It does say "1992 on" and they may have custom options for the 1996+. They are quite a few $POA options will probably indicate custom-made kit.

I estimate for 7 stages of upgrades I wouldn't get much change from NZ$20,000, let alone what I would need to do to the brakes, transmission, etc.

And what would I get: I would move from the top 2% of cars on the road to the top 1% ... not really worth it.

Bought a s/h powerflow off them about 18 months ago. Wasn't willing to disclose turbo upgrade details. Prices very steep & not including labour at aprox £70 per hour. Aprox 10 hrs labour for turbos + £2800 + VAT = huge expense. Said he'd done a couple of turbo conversions. All the mods won't get you an additional 250 hp. Exhaust adds 10 hp, powerflow another 5 hp etc.
They saw my car including engine so I'd always assumed that the conversions were for the 8G. TDi suppose to be good but they are very expensive. I didn't feel at ease with them so have only used them for 1 purchase.
