It would seem so. I would still use Amsoil ATF in the N/A box though, as it is tried and tested already. The thing with other ATFs being SP-III compliant, it may be that they barely make the grade when new, but go out of spec quite quickly.

Another way of doing things is to drain off a sample at regular intervals, and send it off for analysis, to see if it remains in spec.

I was doing some of my own research and found this interesting piece of information...

"An elemental analysis of the SP II ATF is almost identical to an elemental analysis of Mercon V."

I've also heard somewhere else that the SP-III is basically Dex-III with friction modifiers. It would be interesting to get a lab comparison between Dex-III and SP-III.
