Ok 380 is over the top with standard Turbos.

So this is my plan. I am no expert though :D

This should be reliable. I will try this as soon as I get a car

Air filter
Exhaust
Up-rated Fuel Pump
Up-Rated Intercooler(optional but will increase power/reliability, less chance of knock)
E-Manage or KS Rom from Jap Land, KS looks a good idea as it is plug and play, but it should make more power from 1.2bar. I have looked on their web site and they state 30 to 40 bhp increase, this need more investigation £401 is pretty cheap though.

Boost and graph below.

0.4bar@2000rpm
1.0@2500
1.3@3000
1.3@3500
1.3@4000
1.3@5000
1.2@6000
1.0@7000

this is within the turbos capabilities. I THINK :-D

Now all i need is a car :$

Sheesh: I didn't know turbos went up to 180,000rpm !

I think I need to look after them ;)

Err..... Because he's got a new target, and a plan for getting there? Makes sense to me to start afresh, rather than plough through an old thread....

Not here to start b1tching, I thought all info was good info. As for not getting anywhere you maybe aint but I am. Yes I am guessing, if you are worried that I am speaking tosh, you have a car go and try it. That would be more constructive than having a go :sad3:

I will get my car as soon as i can m8

Have a look at Interlecs setup, he dynoed 350bhp at the shootout recently. and seems pretty reliable!

Have you got a link for Interlec, Google has nothing.

Sorry Paul, My fault, I should have explained. Interlec is one of our members, He is a great traveller and turns up at meets all over the country as well as being a prolific poster on these forums so I sort of assumed you would have come across him. Try a forum search for relevant postings on his set up or pm him through the members list.

Yeah that is the page.

I went to google typed in ks rom it is the very first choice then I hit translate page. It does an ok job of translating it I suppose, I have found out that it is on an exchange basis though. not so good

Opened this thread back up (why had it been closed in the 1st place?!)... :inquisiti

Reason being I think there's unfinished discussion here, and am interested to know what people think of Paul's plan (i know he's not got a VR-4 anymore)... :inquisiti

I wish we could have a thread on what mods people have done and their results (1/4 mile or dyno?)

Uc recently posted his 198kw at 10psi thread, and has listed all the mods in it, I would guess he has somewhere between 360 and 370hp at the flywheel.

I know that when I got my exhausts done, my dyno chart went up by only 6kw at the max point, but after the power dropped off a little at higher rpm the gap widened to 11-12kw.

Now onto pauls plan, obviously the first phase of mods are things like exhaust and air filter, as well as a boost controller, and he wanted to go with a piggy back ecu as well, so I think he would be a little less than Uc, but still in the 340-360hp range.

Are there any piggy back computers for our cars? ...I didn't think there was. :inquisiti

Things like Emanage's and Unichip's will fit on, but they will need to be tuned and stuff for the car, they won't come with a base map.

No substitute for the real thing though

I don't think the battle of stand alone vs. piggy back should be started, but there are decent/consistent results (in terms of HP numbers and times) with e-manage for example on 3S (~500WHP / 11s ) ... and you don't have to start with a base MAP... it will drive like stock when zeroed out.

You will only need involvement under full load/WOT anyway... and with that low cost e-manage would do wonders in no more than couple of hours on a dyno... and all other conditions will be looked after by stock ECU.

That’s the difference - piggybacks are for ADJUSTMENTS, stand alones are for CREATING flexible engine management system from ground up for some specific tasks...

my 2 rubles worth... :inquisiti sounds out of place... /Hmmm
... will go abuse my car in the snow ...

PS: Btw tried going to MAP only - it works... no issues, you just have to get those numbers off the logger and enter them into Airflow output map. Basically all you do is spy on stock ECU to get those maps... :)

So Dave if you want that base map you can do it in one evening (I can give you my "two minutes of effort", I mean the map I created, but I don't think its too reliable ;) ... if I only had 3 minutes... /pan )!

Just make a long log to work off - idle, cruise, WOT... than write down the values for different load vs. rpm points. As an example on idle my car would see 660 RPM, Airflow of 25Hz at -9,5 PSi ... so here you go - first reference point! ;)

PHR MAP ECU $399 delivered :leer:

valmes

Is it for used one? PHR lists it for 650$.
It can't alter timing.
Btw: what is the limitation of the stock MAS? (http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=251433)

Nope, its brand new from the manufacturer! I contacted them and they said they had a cancelled US export order so could do them for $399 shipped!

I know it has no timing capability - BUT it is self learning for MAF removal. /Hmmm

Is there any point in converting to MAP? Is the MAF that big a restriction?

How would the MAP ECU stop the car's ECU from trowing a fault code? Does it compute a "dummy" MAF reading to keep the stock ECU happy, or what?
