The last few months I've been busy with all bits of bodywork for both Galoons, e.g. the custom grilles I made from both facelift and pre-facelift grilles, but I also had something else that I hardly couldn't wait to start working on.

6243462435
Custom FL grille and customized PFL bumper (smoothed out the tow hook cover, widened the number plate recess, cut away the lips at the under/sides and cut away part of the top lip to get the FL grille to fit properly).

What I've done:
I made a set of custom side wings that have pre-formed vents in them. To be honest, the original idea wasn't mine, as there are a few already who have used the Ford S-Max fender vents, but I'm pretty sure I'm the first who really embedded them completely in the fenders :)

All that is left to do now is paint and fit the awaiting set of original fender flares and then it'll look even better.

Hats off Mark, looks awesome.

I'm not sure if having the side repeater in the wing is a legal requirement over here though.

I suppose you could always get the door mirrors with indicator units built in.

I'm not sure if having the side repeater in the wing is a legal requirement over here though.

From the MOT Manual:

Vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must be fitted with one side repeater indicator on each side. Instead of a separate lamp, the side repeater might be part of the front direction indicator if it includes a wraparound lens.

Lamps incorporating a side repeater are marked either with an ‘E’ mark in a circle or an ‘e’ mark in a rectangle above which is a number 5.

However, some vehicles are fitted with a wraparound lens with no European approval markings. These can be tested by standing approximately 1000mm to the side of the vehicle’s rear bumper with the indicator on. If amber light can be seen coming through the front lens (not a reflection) this is acceptable.

So - sounds like you *might* get away with it, if you can see it by standing 1m to the side of the rear bumper...

Could always fit some in the wing mirrors to get round it. Mod on here a while back using Legacy mirrors would do the trick

Thanks all! Regarding the side repeaters: in the Netherlands they are mandatory for cars of 1998 onwards. My VR2 is from 1999 so I need them indeed to pass MOT and I will put a LED arrow repeater behind the side mirror glass of the Ganador mirrors that I have ready for paint. That will be legal (at least here). On my other Galoon I don't need side repeaters as that one is from 1997 :) which will also receive a set of ganadors.

Regarding all these customizations: I'm not a pro ofcourse although getting quite experienced with this kind of stuff but all things combined it takes soooo many hours to get it all exactly 'right'. I've also done the painting myself for the bumper, grille and fenders. It's 2 component pro paint but it sure is hard to get it perfect. Which won't happen in a 'dirty' garage where dust always finds it's way into the fresh paint...

Top Job mate! May I apply for a set of mentioned fenders with vents? :D

Have some rep for all the hard work. This is real passion for our common interest in this community and it encourages people like me to do some more stuff to their cars ;)
