If it's what I think you are talking about, you will have to replace the whole upper curved arm. 2 nuts removed from in the engine bay (either side of strut brace foot pad) and 1 nut on ball joint it self removed and a decent ball joint splitter should have that bad boy out in around 10 min.
Got to be genuine mitsubishi IMO. Some people have had issues with patern parts and cheep replicas colapsing within weeks.

From how you describe it from your first post then yes that's the 1.

Ye tester just said to me ds upper ball joint, was reading through threads is the camskill arm ok to use after I saw people complaining bout it failing
I replaced the upper mount ds with one from camskill about 2 months ago and it seems fine.

Are you sure they were talking about the upper as I can't recall anybody having problem with the upper, problems with the lower yes the lower is a common issue.

Cheers Jim will get one ordered, are they easy enough to swap over?
Yes, think it was fairly easy, but must admit got my local garage to do it, they charged me about £60 if I remember rightly.

All done, 2 nuts on either side of the strut bar and one nut inside wheel arch, swapped over in 5mins :)
