I may need a set of down pipes soon, and just need to be sure if the one type fits both auto + manual.

Yes.
After market stuff can be different depending on the age of the car it was made for but standard stuff is all the same.

As Nick says, straight swap on standard.

Thanks guys, been enquiring locally to a breaker who has two autos.

Yep, can also confirm they are the same. If any after market ones do vary from one to the other, auto ones will still fit manual car as there is less bits to clear. May only cause issues with after market ones for manual fitting onto an auto

There are some differences on the transfer box case and the front subframe as I understand it, so whilst standard stuff fits everything, aftermarket stuff is not always so simple to swap.

I was swapping around 2 different aftermarket downpiped and stock between my fl manual and Pezza's ex fl auto
and hasen't noticed any differences in clearance, they all fitted perfectly and transfer box casings looked identical in identical positions.

As Nick stated, the front subframes are different between pre and facelift cars, so aftermarket stuff needs to be checked for fit.
I believe that its the Facelift cars which have the clearance issue.

I think that it is 2nd facelift cars that are different. But I don't know for sure. My car is wearing downpipes that were made on a prefacelift but didn't fit a facelift they were intended for. But they fit my facelift nicely.

Pezza's legnum was late facelift and his stock downpipe and catback fits mine fl 1999 perfectlyl.

fassi1 Stock bits tend to be OK, its aftermarket that can be an issue.

Thanks again guys, I just had a quote from a company near Millers home town offering to make one in stainless steel for £155.
At that price I nearly hope I need one.

I sent him a photo of the one on Ebay costing £295
