Hi,
I replaced my glove box bulb, and it works, when the sidelights are on. Problem is it stays on even when the glovebox is closed!!!, I had alook and can't see a glovebox switch amywhere???. Any suggestions where the glovebox activating switch is???>
I have been driving VR4's as my daily driver for 10 years and 1 month. and I can't believe I don't know where the F**cking glove box light switch is!!! lol!.
I had this before with the tailgate, when I couldn't find the tailgate switch, but it turned out to be a tilt switch in the tailgate. Is the glove box the same???.
Any info appreciated

oh bollocks, I see I came to the right place for advice, lol!!!.

Just to the right hand side of the latch on the upper dash, you will find a very small light bulb, possibly with a blue coating on it, :)

Ha ha quality. I've had 3 galants for a total of about 6 years & never had a (working) lights inc an ex demo. Always thought it was weird the ash tray had one but not the glove box. Oh well live & learn but still can't help

Learning all the time ffs!.

I changed mine for an led, which is very bright and very white!, so it shines out through all the spaces, I have a beam of white light coming out from the whole top edge of the glove box!!.
Surely there must be a switch?.
If not I will fit one inline on the light, pita!!.
Any more comments welcome :)

There's no switch, dudes. It's connected directly to the tail lamp relay and light up all the time with side lamps

That's not very Japanese!!!!.
Considering the spec of the cars, must have been the final straw for the accountant lol!.
I think I may create a seal around the top and sides!

Surely sticking a plunger switch in line shouldn't be too tricky?

Yes, trying to find a small closure switch.
Might even just put a small narrow rocker switch in line where the lx wiring is, so you can switch the light on when you need it.
Still think its odd it doesn't have one!

Even a reed switch will do the job.

I had a look at mine and the bulb had gone so swaped it over for new one and it works with sidelights only so looked around and come up with a anti tamper buglar alarm micro switch as they have a long throw arm 64174with a bit of rewiring will put new live to it so its on with ignition

Hi,
Small reed switch ordered, (thanks Daniel). I can put it inline with the original wiring, ans put a small magnet on the glove box door to meet it, I will let you know how I manage when I get round to it, :)
