Hey guys!
Just brought me a 1994 Mitsubishi galant vr4 6a12

Was wondering if anyone could help me out and tell me if this is my gearbox part number ?? "w5m33 3909"

You need to look at the top of the gear box the model code is written on there.
There are 3 things to look out for,
1. Does it have an external transmission filter (looks like an oil filter).
2. Does it have a OWC written on the gearbox next to the filter position.
3. The model number of the gear box wrttien on top of gear box next to the position of the filter.

Dave, it's a 7G VR-4. And the W5M33 code means it's a manual!

Not 100% if that's the entire gearbox ID code. It could be.

Missed that, it is a vintage vr4. Old school.

thats the same number used on 6/7/8gen but there all different (us models also use the w5m code, its pretty much useless for idenitfying what box has come from what car).... its the letters/numbers after that matter to some extent.
