Well, i bit the bullet...

Got me a 97' VR4 Tip Saloon today...

Drove it all the way up without problems, however....

I have a few quick questions!

1. It needs new pads and dsics at the front, any idea of Mitsu prices, and also, recommendations of others?

2. The AYC has 3 light bars above it on the rev counter, what exactly do they mean?

3. Im going to out it into my local dealer for a service, any idea how much a standard service would cost? Roughly... just the fluids and so on.

I'll go search around the various threads for more info too!

Congrats!

Front discs and pads - don't know the price for Mitsy parts, but National Racing discs and posh Ferodo pads can be had for £240ish. Details of this are in the members section.

AYC bars show how hard the rear diff is working. You should see one bar on medium cornering, two on hard and three when you are giving it large! There is a beautiful AYC article in the library.

Cheapest Mitsy service I ever had was £200 ish. This was the basic 4500 mile service.

Enjoy the site and your car!

Service wise, ill book it in tomorrow...

Hi there, I'm in Irvine, if there's anything that I can help with, just give us a shout, everyone on here is very helpful and there's a lot of stuff, info etc, you can get a radio expander for about £12 to £20 quid on line from some of the SVA prep companies, it just plugs in line with your ariel, easy fix, welcome, cheers Louis

Welcome to VR4 ownership mate !

The brakes are one area that the car is weak, so any doubts get them replaced !

As Nick said, if you want a decent front set up for £240 (approx half the Mitsy price and better quality) then well worth spending £20 and joining up as a full member.

Thanks for the info..

The brakes are fine.. but should i need more i know where to go.

I'll join up soon.... will the online payment be setup anytime soon?

Also.. The Garage knows galants very well. They work mainly on FTO's... but have had a few VR4's in before and know them well.

If the tein's are coil overs then yes you can raise the height, if you look at them it will be pretty obvious, the spring platform will be adjustable using a "C" spanner, otherwise you may only be able to adjust the damping force, cheers Louis

nice pics axeboy - very stealthy!!!

where did you get the VR4 from? somewhere down south?

let us know how you get on at "the Garage" - would be nice to find out more of them and costs etc
I've been using Bridgend in Irvine for stuff - but i'm still under warranty, they have been very good - they know what a VR4 is an how to sort them - unlike some of the dealers down south which have given some members headaches.....

Hi Ritch

I got the car from Keighley...

Not the best place by a long shot, but i had the car checked over and everything was fine.

I'll report back from "The Garage" tomorrow night.. ive got a few things i need done on top of the service... so i'll let you know.

The standard wheel on the late-model cars with leather is the Nardi. The Momo was only fitted to those who chose the Sports pack (Recaros, etc.).
