I've just purchased a 96 6a13tt engine in bits and have a plan to do a complete rebuild bottom to top starting with strengthening the hell out of the motor, wanting to get the strongest possible internals without going to the expense of a complete race spec engine.
Upon engine completion I'll get a rolling body to throw it in and have a stealth street legal weapon!
My main question is: what performance upgrades are there available for these in new zealand ie. forged parts, aftermarket bearings, cranks, valves etc.
I want it to be able to handle maybe 15-20 psi of boost on two rather monster turbos.
Also I'm interested in cutting turbo lag down and am unsure how to do this.

Any thoughts?

It will handle 15-20 psi of boost all day long on standard internals. /yes

Others might be able to tell you a bit more about availability of parts, but there is not a lot available off the shelf, unlike the 4G63T. This generally means that bespoke parts are required, and thus expensive.

go compound haha, massive turbo for high end without having lag till 5k lol

The 15-20 psi boost it will handle, is that just with the standard turbos or with bigger as in td04/05's? Thanks for your help so far.

15-20 psi of boost is 15-20 psi of boost, whether you're making it from a peashooter or an industrial turbine. I.e. it's the same pressure.

but a bigger turbo will make more power at 15psi than ours do

Yes, because you get greater flow at the same pressure. Unless I've got it wrong somewhere!

Ok sweet I wondered how that worked because surely a bigger turbo causes more engine strain once it starts spooling??? Therefore the engine should probably need to be made stronger to handle the higher amount of power it's creating? Sorry if I'm talking **** as I'm pretty new to this but that's what I thought would be the case.
