Hey guys! I am currently deciding on importing a Legnum VR-4 from Japan over to Vancouver, BC. Now I've pretty much made my mind up between a FL Type V with 90,000km for $3100 and the other is a PFL Type S with 118,000 for $4600. Both are auto and look well maintained. The question I want to ask is whether the extra $1500 is worth the AYC, keeping in mind that the Type S I am looking at only has 260 hp rather than the Type V with 280hp. Will buying the Type S and tuning it to be around 280 hp be worth it in order to keep the AYC? I would probably not want to spend a lot of money and save as much as I can. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys!:beerchug:

Iv not had ayc for over a year and I can't say I care :-)

Depends on your driving style tho.

Thanks for the replies guys. So I'm taking it if I'm going to mostly be only doing sensible driving, it would probably be better if I get the Type V? How easily do the AYC hydraulics fail?

The AYC hydraulics don't really fail - the only issues are the breakdown of the fluid, i.e. wear and tear, and that the pump can wear out over time, although an extra couple of years or so life is often achieved by simply changing the pressure switch.

The power difference is not that noticeable, and can be easily redressed by using a boost controller to raise the boost slightly.

I'd spend less on the facelift type v.
It's all personal choice though! Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Thanks for all the advice guys! I just made my purchase today and I've gone with the 1998 Type-V. I should be getting it in a few weeks and I'll be sure to post up some photos for everyone!

Hi & welcome to CVR4. There is a member that moved to Vancouver from Aberdeen last year. I know Vancouver is a big place but if he see's you in the car he may approach you.
