Hello so my Legnum only seems to go up to around 120mph (then suddenly stop) which is a bit gay if you ask me and I'm guessing it hasn't been de restricted anyone else had this and know how to sort it? I've heard when they are imported it should be done then but I guess mine wasn't. Is it a case of finding a wire and chopping it? If so does anyone have the location and PIN number of the wire? Thanks

Its a bit gay is it?

Whats gayer would be for me to reflash your ECU to remove it ;)

I'm gonna do it wearing 46" waist denim shorts cut to the thighs and a sleeveless white vest. And you'll like it.

Haha sounds amazing!!! so it's just a case of a reflash then? Was told there was a wire from the ECU which needed cutting?

You can cut a wire but it can cause the car to stall as it did mine.

speed limit in the UK is 70 mph..... so you best leave well alone ;)

7 years since I had this done to mine vr4 and never ever once I did approached a problem :)

So what's the best option then cut the wire or reflash? will they both get rid of it the same? Obviously I only go over 70mph on a track or 1/4 mile ;-) its really annoying when you get over taken by Corsas and dagenham dust bins

Also does anyone know the location of the wire. I'm up for cutting it and giving it a go and if it gives me grief re-connect it but I've no idea which one it is? Bit of a bomb disposal situation at the moment

It's connector D or 4, pin #86 or 16, "vehicle speed pulse signal".

Last time I reflashed your ECU I made sure you are not faster than me down the 1/4mile and it works :)
Don't worry, will reflash it again when I'm back, I think I know what needs to be changed :)

foxdie that would be sight for sore eyes pmsl Dougie if you try the cut wire you may find it causes the gearbox to do silly things also that would still mean your speedo is still in kmh not mph ?

In my old PFL VR4 i cut the wire to the ECU and did not suffer any bad effects mine was an auto as will.

but as i can reflesh the ecu on my car current car i just lifted the speed limit to about 400Kmph

My old silver Legnum was converted to MPH but was still restricted as I found out on a dyno run.
I snipped the wire (well, Nick did), and never had an issue with it.

So you can go faster if you have had the snip? (don't let the wife know) :smash:

Fit a switch in-line and you can control the speed restrictor ;)
