Anyone any ideas on this one?
Failed Mot as no sidelights(and a few other things :) )
Checked so far:

Bulbs - ok
Mainlights - ok
Fuses - ok
Relays - ok
Continuity across terminals -ok
Earthing - Ok

Voltage checked at both Bulb Holders and nothing showing while stalk in sidelight position. but when main lights on it shows a residual value of 0.45 volts.

just spoke with Tomasz as i was about to post this and he is going to check out the electrical wiring diagrams for me. as i'm useless at Lekky stuff. :upsidedow

cheers

Glenn

Right.. Spoke with Tomasz and he has told me to check and change relay for Mainlights amd also rear lights.as it looks like the sidelights also may have something to do with the mainlight relay as well  so ill check them all again and go from there /yes

What happens with front fog switch?

It works pukka Nick.. I'm pretty sure it's an earthing problem! Because when I tried to earth one of the holders with the bulb in it. I must of accidentally chose the powered
Side, as when I earthed it there was a nice flash and I blew the 15 amp fuse. :/
So I guess the earthing is not ok.
Tomasz mentioned he thought the lights were switched earth, not switched live which would make sense, and give good reason for the mini firework display.

could also be stalk if there earth switched

I like your thinking. But as stalk in first position dims Aircon display! Seems it is working correctly?
This was Tomasz's thoughts and I agreed as seemed logical??

Does the tail lamps and licence plate lamps work as they should?

Yes they do.. All other lights are working as they should..

Tricky... The side lamps, tail lamps and licence plate lamps share the same fuses and same power source (tail lamp relay), which triggered by earth from the stalk. So if both tail lamps works, the power source must be fine all the way throught the fuses. The right and left sidelights doesn't share the same earting point, so the situation with both earth points out of order is just unlikely on japanese cars :)

You must take the connectors off the sidelights and measure DIRECTLY on the connector wires with the stalk in the first position. The orange wire (left lamp) and the green/white wire (right lamp) must give 12V. The black wires must have continuity to the chassis.

Strange that you mention blewing the 15A fuse... The sidelights are powered by two 10A fuses, one for each side...

Was they unplugged?!

I must of accidentally chose the powered Side, as when I earthed it there was a nice flash and I blew the 15 amp fuse

That explains everything then... Or does it? :)

Yes it explains everything including why I blew the 15amp fuse. As I was measuring the Main Beam 😵😱😷
It all was a clear as glass when I went back to it Yesterday.. 😆
