The idea for doing something really different to a Galant bonnet rose about a year ago, but only today I finally got around to actually start on it.

As some of you know, I've done my fair bit of customizing on our beloved Galants/Legnums. And if you're one of them, you know it's usually quite subtle. Only a handful who see our cars will spot the customizations. And that's exactly what I like best: custom stuff that looks like it could have been like that from factory or a factory option.

This time I'm doing a bonnet. The pre-facelift bonnets have a light bulge, the facelift version have a much more pronounced bulge. My idea was to invert the (PFL) bulge. I don't think it has been done before (maybe for good reason!) or at least I've never seen it. On some cars the bonnet is like that from factory, and it's not really per se something that is like super appealing, it's just a bit less common.

There are some risks ofcourse:
- the space we have is already limited so doing this inversion might prove to be not fitting at all, although I'll cut some height from the underframe but it will be very tight
- maybe the final product isn't what I envision

Okay, enough talking, here's today's progress:

as always - good idea over there. I was ever wondering, where you are going to get all those ideas from. :-/ Looking forward to the result.

However, if the idea is to help cooling of the engine bay, this might not work as air is not sucked from the engine bay. I'd have preferred to have the vent thingy in front of the bonnet, where bonnet catch is located.

Keep the pics coming Mark!

Thanks Stefan. I don't know where I get these ideas from. Maybe I watch too much car-shows on TV?
Regarding cooling: it was and is not my intention to do this with cooling in mind. It's purely for looks.

I have to admit though, that I have been playing around with the idea of a vent at the front of the bonnet, but I couldn't get it to work (in my head). Even did a bit of photoshop on that but again, nothing that excited me came out of that.
