rear diff problem 1996 legnum

Not exactly sure what the problem is dont know enough about it. Had car up on stands the drivers side rear wheel locks up at idle in drive but then manages to free itself will turn again then jams. On the ground it clunks and carrys on but still turns, all help appreciated.

Sounds like you have stripped a tooth off a gear. I'd say it is very likely you need to replace the diff. Replace the diff with like for like, although the age of the legnum you get it from doesn't matter.

Sounds about right. Have you seen any leaking oil from the rear diff? There's a good chance the casing is now cracked which would make diagnosis confirmation easier!
