Hi all
Need some help and i can't find a thread on this...
My gears are not displaying at all on the dash board. Also it feels like the 1st gear is not engaging since the car jerks when pulling away and also i need to push the accelerator harder to go up a small raising at the entrance to my home.
i had changed the oil about 1,000 km ago, which was about 9 months ago, however i think the gear oil has a funny smell... not sure if thats the way it should smell.

What oil did you use?

What is the level like now?

Does the N light ever come on, is it just the number lights that aren't working?

I used Mistubishi SPIII oil, the one from the dealer. The level i think is OK coz i can see it on the dipstick. None of the gear lights come on.

Is it worth checking the fuse for the ECU?

The fuse was gone, when i changed it, the car was ok. the shifting was fine. However after about 2km, in heavy traffic (20min or so) the car jerked and the lights were gone again. There must be an underlying problem...

I'd be checking the connections and loom under the air snorkel and air filter box. I've heard about the loom rubbing in that area and shorting out.

I did get some time to check the wiring loom and didn't get any worn out wire or anything that looked like it could be shorting. Could it be something else?
