I've had these downpipes fitted for the past few days and I must say the quality of the welds, and the fitment are spot on! Absolutely no fiddling needed to get the downpipes to mate up to the turbos and the rest of the exhaust system.

Got them fitted (finally) knobs at the garage kept letting me down, any how, they are brilliant and a welcome addition to the car, well worth the expense. Just waiting for the De-Cat pipe to arrive then I'll have a complete stainless system. Colin.

I would have done mate, but need mot pass... Sold the other cars so only got legnum to roll in defender and Subaru are sorn... Off Monday aswell, all depends if father will let me borrow 5 series or dare I say it prosche, got the money just been in Portugal all week thought not was week after lol... Also failed on wishbone front bolt threaded so loose ( not my work ) and steering rack end but already purchased that... Nothing else Realy, rear fog out but minor issue... Ns front caliper binding but trying to wait out for big brake upgrade...

Yep undertray will fit.
They are designed to be as high as possible so there is still nice clearance.

As I said here are the photos i took, I now have full stainless steel system front to back and no cat,
Car drives very well was too wet on drive back home to test fully but it could be 1 DB quieter on the motorway, but will have to check again. Also took three hours because of the rain and heavy traffic.

Since i installed my selfmade 2,5 to 3 "Downpipe i have a strange sound. Its really hard to descripe. Its hearable if i roll Out from about 4500 u/min to 1100 and when the turbo comes Out the vacuum about - 20 to - 5 bar. Do you have similar sounds with that?

You would have to speak to those who have them installed, never had any complaints about strange noise, people are rather pleased with the sound.

Fitted my set this evening very good fit, bolt holes were good and misses the oil pan by just enough and sits much higher that the rpw ones did. Not started car yet waiting for a few more bits to arrive :(

Just got it all back together and went for a drive sounds good slightly different to the rpw ones, ground clearance is WAY better and as I said fitment is great. Highly recommended :)

Received my new front pipes and they look great, thanks Chris.
I got hold of gaskets and hope to get them fitted later in the week.
I realise the 2 downpipes are 2.5" but the gaskets for these are 2" , is this OK as I'm not sure of the size below the turbos?

I believe the stock downpipes are 1.75" into 2.25", with the rest of the stock system being 2.25". :)

Finally fitted the down pipes to my 96 PFL Legnum and it fitted perfectly.An amazingly accurate fit!
In the past I fitted a decat pipe to a blue-flame ss catback which gave it a slightly different note but was amazed at the difference these down pipes made!
It isn't louder , (if anything it has lost a lot of the motorway drone) but gives a clearer growl and a twin tone note from the 2 downpipes if that makes any sense? probably just my ears.

Eventually fitted my downpipes yesterday. My existing SS ones were holed in the flexi, but I was never thrilled with the design and probable flow characteristics, namely as the rear bank downpipe pretty much just teed into the horizontal one!

Now I have fitted these, the response is much improved. Obviously they are quieter as they are not holed!! :D

The only fitment fun I had was that the manifold heat shields were interfering with getting the pipes flush to the manifolds, but it was nothing that a little manoeuvering and persuasion didn't fix! The precision of these downpipes is marvellous, it is amazing how tucked up they are. One or two of the clearances are just 5mm or so, but they are solid, so that's plenty. :)

Only other downside is that my exhaust is now just touching one part of the underside, although that is not the fault of the downpipes. Guess I will be getting the breaker bar out again!

Overall though, extremely pleased and an excellent product, thanks Chris for sorting them. :thumbsup:

We made effort designing these downpipes on my old Legnum to give max clearance. I personally hated custom downpipes made by somebodyelse I had on my Legnum cause flexi would be regularly destroyed by most of the speed bumps.

These are sold as "2-Bolt 2.5 inch exhaust gaskets". More often than not shops just smack some high-temp RTV in place of the gasket (not a good idea IMO).

I know what you mean it's tight but with a long socket you should be ok. the nut is really tight to the pipe as its bigger and therefore tight on the weld

On the 3" end, where it bolts to the cat (if you have 1). the top nearest to the prob shaft. I have to use a spanner like a screw driver, no room to get a socket or use the spanner correctly.

Hmmm never heard from nobody about this kind of issue maybe because most people and myself in the past had to drill the holes out in the cat cause oem bolts just snapped off when trying to undo. With the holes drilled out in the cat there's a bit more room and most people just use bolts and nuts. In your situation I can suggest to use allen key bolts instead. Unfortunately 3'' pipe is much larger than oem pipe and automatically there is bit less room.

Unfortunately not. The jig is designed for 2 hole flat flanges and it's too complicated to change it.

Ok just eliminate that flange. We'll weld on a V-band flange. No problem.
Had to do the same on the OEM exhaust aswell arround the cat.. (btw i'm gonna de-cat the exhaust when i'll buy youre downpipe)

These are replacement downpipes for standard which means that 3'' flange on the end of the replacement downpipes is located in exactly the same place as standard.

i have seen some of your downpipes chris and as far as i am aware they fit in exactly the same location as the originals.
be interesting to pictures of what the issue was, but that will probable not happen as it seems the flange in question has been cut off.

Im building a VR4 on a 2.0 GLX chassi. Ergo the tunnel aint that wide as it is on a VR4 Galant.. so with the propshaft and a 3" exhaust.. it WILL be thight!!

Yes paypal is fine but only as a gift to a friend.
It would be TNT Economy Express which says:
"Delivery within 3 to 5 working days on this service throughout Europe and the rest of the world (remote destinations may take a little longer) "
It would be very impressive if it was delivered wthin 3 - 5 days to Hong Kong.
I guess it may take a little bit longer, but I may be wrong.

I can try to get one ready this week, if not than beginning of next week. Yes it bolts on to stock cat.
Postage within UK is still £15 so all together £290.

UPDATE

Just to let everyone know, downpipes are still available.
There are some small changes.

First one is a rear end design. Flexi has been moved slightly away from chassies to give more room.
Section from flexi to cat flange has been redesigned to give more room for those that still use standard cat with standard fixings.
In most cases they rust away, people drill them out and end up using bolts and nuts.
In any of those situations, new design gives more room and easier fit.

Other change is price.
Current price is £280 as instead of old £275.
Hope that wont put people off.

Recently I ordered a Fujitsubo Legalis R type Evolution in Japan.

As you all know it's a catback system.

Can I fit your product on my Saloon VR4 directly to the Fujitsubo exhaust?

Or do I still need the catalyst? Or the test pipe I usually drive with?

This one has better airflow than the original?

My downpipes are direct replacement for standard downpipes which means they will fit standard cat and standard catback system.
As long as your catback system fits standard downpipes with standard cat, it will work with my downpipes.
If you don't want to use standard cat, you can use decat pipe instead.
My downpipes are 2x 2.5" in to 3" with a lot smoother bends and Y joint so it's big improvement from standard downpipes.
Shipping to Netherlands is £25 so all together £305.

Having had toyotas most of my life, I'm used to a turbo elbow before the downpipe, is the VR4 a similar set up? Or do these bolt straight to the turbos?

Downpipes don't bolt to the turbos directly, there are short sections that bolt to the turbos first.

Because mine Sounds a bit to sporty right now, it leaks right after the rear gearbox. It's a Legnum VR4 by the way.

I would say ebay. Search for evo 4,5,6 decat as far as I remember. They are 3inch and are exact fitment as our cat.
