so my abs light came on today and i was like wtf ? as i was coming to a corner i put my foot on the brakes ( not too hard ) and the brake pedal was tapping it fealt like it was tapping against my foot ? im sure its not the break pedal itself as its really secure when i pressed against it hard with the car off , anyone had this happen to them before ? was a bit scary with the break pedal having a hestitating feeling , also ayc light came on then went off , when i start the car in neutral the ayc 3 bar light stays on for a couple of seconds then goes off but abs light stays on ?

Usually when ABS kicks in there is a pulsing kind of feeling - not through the pedal though. I'd agree with David and check those codes - the ABS system may be playing up.

I'd say that you've got an ABS reluctor ring that's split.

I had a ring on the passenger side rear crack - this put the ABS light on in the dash, and gave a pulsating of the brake pedal on light braking.

The ABS works by listening to a tone generated by the toothed ring going past the sensor - there are 42 teeth on the ring, and they are evenly spaced. If the tone changes suddenly or stops, then it knows that the speed of that wheel has changed compared to the other wheels - so it pulses the brake on that wheel to "unlock" it. This is the pulsing that you feel through the pedal.

When the toothed ring has a slight split, it gives a ever so slight change in this tone - most noticeable on light breaking (because the ABS unit isn't expecting that change in tone with the braking pressure that's been applied)

A new ABS reluctor ring itself will only cost about £10-15 (or your regional equivalent) - and it'll take about an hour or two to fit.

As others say - pull the fault codes using the flashy-dash process and a paperclip - I'll almost guarantee it'll point you at a wheel speed sensor - if the AYC lights also lit up when this happened, I'd say it'll be a rear.

Mine used to do this is the wet, especially after a night of wet stuff with wheels left on lock.
Would drive fine then all of a sudden start doing it, but would start immediately if left on lock, and would be a code for whichever wheel was turned out.
After clearing codes and remembering to leave wheels straight it stopped occuring :)

Jus my tuppence :)

Pull the abs fuse. The light will still be on tho.
Have you actually code checked it yet?

If the reluctor ring is damaged, it will also cause issues with the ASC and AYC, as well as the ABS.

It'll take you 2 minutes to pull the fault codes, and about 15 minutes to check the rings where it is broken (that time will include jacking the car up!)

Turn the car on, drive it for a bit then turn it off. Wait for a good minute or two, turn it back on, let it idle for a minute, then back off.
Repeat this a couple of times and it should clear the ABS light on the third go when it detects no fault.

Otherwise just disconnect the battery for 10 minutes.
