....... are Mitsubishi TC03-06A, is the world's smallest: the turbine diameter is only 39 mm, and it can spin safely up to 210,000 rpm. The shaft linking the turbine to the intake compressor is pressure-lubricated

FTOLTD

I thought they looked small

well if anyone ever needs one or two i got a spare sett here i would be willing to sell

Hello FTOLTD i am interesting to replace the stock turbos by one bigger. What was your selection ? And how much cost to you? INSERT INTO post VALUES (including the piping work). Did you replace the fuel pump, the injectors ....?:headsc::headsc: :headsc: :headsc:

FTOLTD

My 6A13 is in an FTO now and i used a Garret GT30 i replaced fuel pump and i am trying to find new injectors but it looks like i will have to get these ones laser drilled there is also a lot of other mods done but i have spent over 20000 AUD on the conversion

But it is hard to compare as there are so many things I have done that you would not need to do, most of it is custom made to suit the car, here is a list for you,
Garrett GT30 turbo, aftermarket computer with complete rewiring, full 3 inch stainless steel turbo back exhaust, uprated clutch, external waste gate and screamer pipe, rising rate fuel pressure regulator, earls fuel lines, 2 extra injectors, modified inlet manifold, custom exhuast manifolds, custom intercooler and plumbing, modified throttle body, custom made heat shields, ceramic coating, walbro fuel pump, BOV, modified thermatic fan, custom stainless steel braided clutch line, custom throttle cable, custom stainless steel braided oil line to turbo, silicone hoses, custom made oil return, custom made brackets, modifcations under bonnet to make it all fit, custom made engine cover, powder coating, dyno tuning, boost control, modified cranksensor, modified engine mounts, relocate battery, relocated power steering resevior, custom made catch can,

still to be done
fuel injectors, twin plate clutch as upgraded single plate not holding under full boost, engine internals, strengthen gearbox and drive line, brakes

i think I heard someone say once that it was 5 Hp per sticker ?

Well actually it still corners great.

and you want to really feel some adrenaline get behind 400 Hp in a FWD

I have driven loads of high powered rear wheel drives and nothing compares or can desribe what it feels like when you get 400 Hp at the front wheels

Hey Ailsa get that whip out I got my :arse: out waiting for a good whipping

Come on baby hope you are going to give me a good whipping ohhhhhhhhh yeaaaaaa

oh and hey for looks the FTO gets first :prize1:

richieelliott
18-08-2003, 11:26 AM
its definatly 10bhp per sticker
and sure the fto looks nice
........ but compared to the nsx its a skoda

FTOLTD
18-08-2003, 11:37 AM
oh well then i am sure you will get a NSX cheap considering they still sell at auction in Japan for a 1990 model at
over 3 million Yen
besides if your going to talk about those sort of cars a Ultima GTR looks much better, or maybe we will go for the new porsche carrera GT

FTOLTD
18-08-2003, 11:40 AM
any way what is a skoda ?

richieelliott
18-08-2003, 12:10 PM
i agree not a realistic car however you said that an fto comes first in looks! but i dont agree that german sports cars are attractive but thats my view and a skoda was a eastern european car company that made skips with wheels....... however they make some good cars since vw started to influence them

richieelliott
18-08-2003, 12:12 PM
3 million yen? you can get an nsx between 25 to 40 thousand pounds? dunno the conversion

hey look at the picture of the skoda and the FTO and the galant, the skoda looks more like a galant than it looks like an FTO or should i say the Galant looks like the skoda. I think the skoda came out first.

by the way the FTO was finished and has the dyno sheets and has been driven around now for a couple of months but yes it not completly finished as i will do the internals on the spare engine and will be going for 600 Hp and want to break 10 Seconds

will be taking it down the track next month and will post some time slips

got to give some of the credit to the 6A13 motor but most of it to full throttle performance, thier skill and knowledge about performance cars and how to set up turbo properly.

Just a shame that you cant give the 6A13 much more than 18 Lb boost in its stock form

richieelliott
19-08-2003, 05:24 PM
wow lots of bhp !!! what about the torque? any plans for improvement?

pjjohnson
19-08-2003, 06:17 PM
BHP and torque. BHP is torque at high revs.

The way to work it out is BHP = Torque INSERT INTO post VALUES (ft/lbs) x rpm/5252.

So at 5252 rpm if you've got 300ft/lbs of torque you've got 300 bhp, but if you've got 400ft/lbs at 3500 rpm you've only got 266 bhp. I know which I'd rather have, its torque that makes a car accelerate.

The good thing about a twin turbo 6a13 is that its torque comes in at really low revs with very little lag. But the downside it starts to fall after around 5000 rpm, which isn't good for headline BHP figures.

richieelliott
19-08-2003, 06:46 PM

I think your 400+ hp FTO would be left, front wheels-a-spinnin at the line over the quarter mile by a well set up VR4 matey. Just look at the reviews for the latest 147 Alfa 3.2 INSERT INTO post VALUES (fwd). Only 250ish bhp and it was caned by the critics for its inability to inspire confidence AND for its limited cornering ability.
