Daft question about exhaust decat flanges

Turns out I have a broken flexi in my 3 inch downpipes so I'm looking to sort out as soon as I can. Shoddy workmanship from the start!

I have a set of stock downpipes but dont want to fit a very restrictive stock cat back on.

I know decats can be had cheap £20-25 off ebay, but was wondering if there was any complication with the flanges which bolt up. Will the flange on the stock downpipe match the flange on the decat due to the size difference?

If it helps, this is the decat I'm looking at, and it will go onto the car with a set of stock downpipes mated to a Fujitsubo cat back section.

I 'THINK' the overall size of the flanges will be the same, it will just be the size of the hole in it (2.5" instead of 3") that is different.

I may be wrong so don't hold me to it if you spend money based on this advice :anxious:

All flanges are standard size if using 2.5/3" & the best ones to get are the ones with an oval hole both sides along with the metal gaskets

Measure the hole diameter on the downpipes dude !

EDIT:- Thinking about it you might need 2 3" as the de cat is 3" diameter

If you bought a 2.5" it would restrict flow being to small

/lol, sorry Steve. I'm at work right now and the pipes are in the garden. No matter, I've ordered 2.5" ones. If they are different I'll pop to Halfrauds or a local motor factors.

Edit, yep, got two 2 x 3" gaskets for the decat pipe and 2 x 2.5" for the downpipe.

Got 2.5" for the turbo side, and 3" for the decat.

Aren't yours ftom torque flow? I would go and see them and tell them that the flexi has gone.

Yep, but to be honest, I wasn't too impressed with them. I already went back shortly after having them made/fitted and they made a tiny adjustment and just fobbed me off (and I reckon there was some background politics involved when I did go back - not gonna bother getting into it here).
Not gonna bother with them for a 2nd time, and just get the pipe repaired properly once its off the car and I have time to do it.

It is a shame as I have heard the same about them, pretty good to deal with. But you gotta stay sweet with the politician or risk paying for it later. For some reason I am now thinking about the dodgy goings on in The Wire with the Baltimore politicians /lol

Atik with regard to the decat, the stock downpipes has the rera flange that bolts up to the decat flange at and angle so the bolt holes are not at 9 and 3 o'clock, i think it is more like 10 and 4 o'clock, the rear of the decat has the bolt holes at 9 and 3 o'clock.
so the decat you buy must not have the flange bolt holes in line.

Davezj .. Thanks Dave. I was aware of the bolt hole positions. When I fit the decat on the first Legnum, seeing the bolt holes in odd positions made me thing I had the wrong decat!
