I'm trying to remove the rubber strips below the windows on all 4 doors so that I can paint the window surrounds. I'll also probably replace these strips as mine are worn, cracked and torn. I had a search but couldn't find any details on how to remove them from the doors. It looks like the 'unhook' at the ends, but right now I don't want to risk damaging them any further. Any advice?

Has anyone ordered these from Mitsubishi before? Anyone know how much they will cost? The part numbers, by the way are

MR214265 FL
MR214266 FR
MR214267 RL
MR214268 RR

They are called 'moulding, belt line'

I've been trying to work this out too because mine are all dull, cracked and coming off of the doors lol. It looks like there is a plastic cap on the end and if you look on the inside of the door there's a screw near the end (it may be behind the inside rubber). But it still doesn't budge for me when I try to pull it out, maybe sliding it across will do it.

For the rears, there is a screw partway down which you can access after removing the door cards. I can't see any sort of screw for the fronts.

Fronts have a screw on the rear end of the door.

Cheers. How do I access this? From inside the car or through the end of the trim?

The screws in the front are on the other side (inside of the door), near the edge of the door. A small philips head screw.
To remove the trim, first remove the screw. Then you have to pry with a flat screwdriver from inside the door. It is easiest to start from the screw-end.

If i remeber correctly the trims for the outside of the doors are quite expensive if you are buying new. i think the last time i checked they were about £38 per door. but i could have remembered this incorrectly.
i would check the price before you remove the old ones as you might break them taking them off. If you find after this that they are expensive and you don't want to change them you are let in a worse situation than you are now. with dull and now broken door trims.

Cheers for the info, I'll phone Mitsubishi and see how much they are.

Am I alone in having ragged trim pieces or are these commonly worn out? I might have luck getting some from a breaker..

i think they are just old they tend to go hard and brittle, and stop touching the window as goes up and down and fails to clear the water/condensation from the outside. so you have to wipe them in the morning rather than just dropping the windows and putting them back up again to clean them.

but it was not worth over £150 to me just to replace these seals.

Mines really worn and cracked, some don't touch the window like davezj says or sit properly on the door. Although most other galants I've seen are in much better condition and aren't noticeably worn, hence why I'm just going to get some from pick-a-part.
