Wiper switch

I have a wiper switch next to fog light switch, it lights up but does nothing
Front and back wipers work fine of the left stock

Does anyone know why it would be there ?

Front screen heater.

edit: It's a cold spec car, so it gently warms up the bottom of the screen to prevent wipers sticking........ in theory ;)

Look a the base of your windshield. There should be two pads where the wipers sit. As Dave says above, they gently heat up and give the rubber wipers a bit of a headstart to working when there is ice.
