In my ongoing hunt for a VR4, came across this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mitsubishi-Legnum-VR4-Manual-/151281415136?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item23391333e0

Has a manual box, manual stick, yet had the P,R,N,D etc. on the clocks... Is this normal?! Or has this been converted to manual at some point?

That would suggest it has had a manual conversion or the inst cluster has been replaced. Most likely the first one tho.

The car in question is my car and this is how it came into the uk is there anyway to check chassis number to tell if its a factory manual or automatic i cant see any signs of it being converted which leads me to believe the clocks got swapped in Japan if they are not standard but then i have been told that all pre 1998 cars came with the same clocks but this could well false

yes post up your chassis number and i can check it on ASA or you can do it for yourself on Partsbase.org

http://www.partsbase.org/

sorry the partsbase.org will only give you part numbers when you go through all the menus and select the part you want to look at.

So post up you chassis number and i can tell you what the factory spec was on you car.

This is what the factory says you car is.

1997 Jan 1st week
Option code C08
exterior T09B
Interior 14J
classification LNGF
2.5 V6 legnum Type - S 5 speed manual.

looks like the dash clocks ahve been changed at some point, don't belive the mileage, unless you have documented evidence of previous mileage. mileage is stored in the dash clocks.

if it has been in the uk for a few years then the all the old mots will be available to view on line you need the V5 doc number and the reg of the car to view them here.

http://motinfo.direct.gov.uk/internet/jsp/ECHID-Internet-History-Request.jsp

the owner will be able to give you the V5 doc number it is writen on the front page of the V5 document.

I have all the previous mots and the first one just says 0 and the next one matches the mileage on the clocks, ive owned the car since it was imports so if the clocks where changed it must have been in Japan, Im happy to hear that it is a factory manual thanks for your help.
