This is my COTY. I will use this thread as my project thread, I love project threads as you can always go back and see how it all started.

So why did i get a VR4, I had a 330bhp 200sx and it was dream car,

My partner then became pregnant and i had to sell to afford to buy a house. I have a baby girl and bought the house. I got an mx5 for cheap to poodle around in.

this is the mx5 after me owning for a few months, it was stock

This soon got boring as it was under powered. So i thought i need a family car that i can tinker with and has decent power and a lot of potential. I thought i would go for an LS400 and go VIP, after searching i came across the VR4 and my thought process changed.....TWIN TURBO POWER.

So here she is. I bought it from a member of the forum. It needed a good clean and the battery to be charged. I can't believe how good the paint work is. The current modifications are as follows.

- MBC
- Boost Controller
- in car TV with two sub woofers
- EVO decat

http://i1233.photobucket.com/albums/ff396/joe1401/coty1.jpg

My plans are as follows
lower the car about 40mm-60mm,
Spray the front grill black
Black R33 GTR wheels
Fuel Pump
RSR exhaust
EVO brakes
Fit Nardi shallow dish wheel
HKS air filter
De-Wiper the boot
Fit an EVO style Bonnet

And Enjoy the car

Have fun! I also like project threads. /yes

You might want to consider buying a 2nd grill to paint, as the pearl white is very difficult to match if you ever want to go back....

good choice buddy.

I too am a coty owner, and weirdly my housemate has a s14a with 14 front cos in my opinion he has no taste!! haha

if you look at or ever see my car you will see what a nightmare the pearl white is, my skirts, bumper and dishes are all different shades, the bonnet I gave up and just vinyl wrapped in white carbon :-)

eventually I will paint the whole car.

Yer it does look like a nightmare to match. The rear wing needs respraying so i am getting a quote to see the price to colour match it.

I got the boost controller hooked up last night to see what the boost was set to. Its already been set to 13psi. It spikes at around 15psi but drops to 13psi.

Im going to look into getting a HKS air filter just to increase intake noise.

Im searching for 40mm lowering springs as mine is 1996 model. Im not to sure if they need to be for the legnum or if i can fit galant. is there a difference between the two models for suspension and is there 60mm lowering springs out there.

youll find a lot of disagreement on here with fitting cone filters as the car will run better with an upgraded panel filter, but its all heresay as I dont think its ever actually been proved. but theres a few smart people on here :-)

its a 3 stage pearl and your wing is abs and the boot, roof and quarter are metal. it will never properly match.

I thought that someone had proved power loss with poor air filters? Anyway, the theory is that the maf on the vr4 is very sensitive to air flow. If your new filter setup messes the airflow up then the car will likely over fuel and lose power.

Ok i will get a panel filter instead if that works better

Sprayed the standard wheels black today they were corroded to buggery. Look so much better black.

I dewipered the boot yesterday. Easy job and makes the rear look a lot nicer. I used a 31-32mm blanking grommet, it cost me 30p so cannot complain.

Stil on the search for suspension or lowering springs.

on another note i saw this galant on this website. Its probably the nicest galant I've ever seen, so much carbon, wish they had a better image of the engine bay, i love the dual HKS air filters.

ok so after struggling to get the R33 wheels to fit i decided to sell them and get some that i thought would fit. Found some Enkei Racing S 17x9 on ebay with tyres for £250 delivered.

These don't need machining to fit to the hubs.

I test fitted them and they look great. Still poke out of the arches by a silly amount. at the moment the tyres are 245 45 17, I'm going to stretch 215 tyres on the 9J wheels all round to get them in the arches.

I am still on the hunt for coilovers so i can get the chassis sitting on the floor.

Really want this vogue lip
