Big Hi out to everyone all the way from Sri Lanka, a tiny island to the south of India. Just purchased my Galant 8g (Euro Spec) 15 days back and already loving it to bits, despite the small issues it has after 10 years of usage.
Now before you judge, the car culture of Sri Lanka is quite different from what you know in each of your countries. Believe it or not, a 10 year old car is still considered to be a relatively new car and funnily enough, a Lancer cs2 or a Toyota Corolla from 2003 or so can fetch about 15,000 USD or more. Nope, I'm not making this up. We have a ~300% tax on brand new cars.
Anyhow, getting back to the 8g; this is the first car on my own. I've driven a couple of econoboxes before. But I could hardly fit on them and long drives were always a near nightmare. What's more, most cars we have on our roads are 1500cc max. Almost all the cars I drove were 1000cc. So the 8g is quite a step up in terms of physical & engine size and I'm loving it. Just had a long drive a week back and I'm waiting to get a long holiday to do it again.
As I said, the car has some issues that I need to fix. For example, the A/C is screwed. I can't control the temp. It's broken and set to some glacial temp. So whatever the temp control is done with the A/C on/off button. There are some bits and pieces missing. I need to source them. I'm not a huge fan of modding the car, maybe a rear spoiler at most. However, I'm thinking of some handling/brake enhancements. A 2000cc engine is more than adequate in our driving conditions. We have less than 300km of expressways for the whole island.
I'll be looking for help and will try to contribute with whatever I can and I'm looking forward to being here often. Finally, let me put some links to the pics of the 8g. These are off the online classified they ran on the car.
