Hi folks, I'm Tony and I'm from Hamilton in New Zealand.
I've owned a 1996 Legnum VR-4 for a couple of years after sadly parting with my much loved 1990 Galant VR-4. Recently the Legnum has started to show some upcoming and likely expensive issues so I have just bought a 1997 Legnum VR-4 with the intention of selling the 1996 one to someone who has the facilities to do any necessary work on it.
I am NOT into racing, rallying or modifying, my cars are stock standard and will remain that way and are used simply as commuter vehicles.
I have come to the forum to expand my knowledge of these vehicles and find information on problems which no doubt others have already faced. If in the course of that I can assist anyone else in any way that will be great.

Welcome to the forum Tony. What issues are you having with the first legnum? I'm sure people here would be able to give you lots of advice and I'd come give you a hand with that legnum or your new one.

Hi all, thanks for the welcome.
I'll see if my housemate will take some pics of both cars for me: she has a decent digital camera while I only have a basic phone which takes so-so pics.
In reply to kiwigalant, there are several things, the worst of which is that one of the turbos occasionally makes an awful whine so I suspect it is on its way out and any such work looks to be extremely expensive even supposing I could find someone with the skills and facilities to do it. The AYC diff has a leak which I have been quoted $500 to remove, reseal and refit and the auto trans is beginning to slip occasionally: no doubt that would also be very expensive to fix.
The 1997 Legnum doesn't have the roof rack which is disappointing but it runs great and is better soundproofed than the 1996 one which is nice.
I have no mechanical workshop facilities and I'm a very small-built guy with little physical strength so working on things like that myself is not practical, meaning I have to pay someone but the problem is that I don't know anyone I could trust which is why I had to let the Galant go - it was easily the best car I have ever owned or driven and it still breaks my heart not to have it any more.
