I recently bought a carbon fibre bonnet not realising the dangers of the latches becoming weak and the dangers of the bonnet flying open causing great damage.
I researched the options of visible pins or Aerocatch but as with most owners hated the idea of drilling and cutting the Carbon bonnet. I eventually found these PINTKING or QUICK-LATCH MINI pins available on ebay that are based on a larger american design. It still required a small amount of drilling but an amount I was comfortable with and left a subtle but safe finish.
Unfortunately they are overpriced at £22-£29 Each! So I did a trial on one and as it worked great will be purchasing another as soon as I've re-mortgaged. I hope this alternative is of some use to someone.

how much weight can one of these connectors support. Id be cautious about solely relying on them for holding your bonnet down.
Good idea and looks pretty slick though!

A single pin will hold 150 lb. There is a Video available on YouTube under Quik Latch Mini Kit - strength test.
I am also using the main factory latch. These are back-up in-case the main latch was to ever fail.

Very nice... What time of drill bit did you use in drill a hole in your bonnet. Looks neat and simple.

I used a drill adaptor called a 'Holesaw' which is a cup shaped adaptor with a saw like edge with a fitted pilot drill. Its used for larger shallow holes.Yes, It does give a cleaner finish. Hope that helps.
