My car has got a lot of white smoke at idle, as per the video link. It does not appear to be burning oil and the coolant levels are OK too.

This is because the seals on one or both of the turboes have failed isn't it? They seals are not serviceable I assume, so that means reconditioned turboes doesn't it?

Thanks.

Is that smoke smell like burn oil?

I would say that's just a steam, do you travel on short distances for a while? if yes then this is probably just collected water in exhaust system evaporate, oil smoke is more blueish.

It doesn't smell like oil. The car has been used very little this year and was sitting outside in heavy rain for a few days this week. How long would it last if it was vapour, I was idling it for about 20 mins?

I would say water in exhaust, mine used to do it, idling is useless at getting rid of water, but of spirited driving should do it, sprays a lot out

Or drill a pinhole, like 2-3 mm in lowest part of exhaust system, this will allow water to escape, be prepare for a lot of it if car hasn't been drive spirited for a while. Not sure how strict emission test is in NZ as this hole could potentially **** up emission readings.

We don't test emissions, but an exhaust leak will fail the warrent of fitness

Great thanks for the tips.

Will give the car a good run.
