Hey guys i was just wondering what would be causing black smoke coming out the exhaust pipe when its cold, when it heats up there is no smoke at all.
Thanks.

I dont see why it would be doing that im still running stock pump and injectors unless im not getting enough air in? I dont know.

An air leak would do it. Either way, black smoke usually means too much fuel or not enough air.

How would I check for air leaks?

I would start by checking all the clips are tight and the elbow at the throttle body is sealed correctly... The rubber seal there can degrade and fall apart, also it can be a bugger to seat correctly..... Check your air filter as well, if it's black get a new one....

I believe some garages have a smoke machine which can highlight any leaks, there's a lot of pipework being twin turbo......

Before you try and pressurise anything with that bung where are proposing to stick it.

Y pipe coming off the turbos. Read a thread on it yesterday. :)

glad you have done your background reading.
just checking.
just to confirm you are going to disconnect the Y pipe and connect bung to the flex pipe that goes to the intercooler.
depending on space and what type of hose you have joining to the Y pipe, you might need to cut that bung quite a bit shorted so it will actually fit, if you intend to leave the Y pipe in place and just disconnect it when you do the pressure test.

Yea I know its quite long so I was going to loosen it off and spin it around for the test cause I have a piece of pipe instead of original flexible.
