As the title say i'm looking for a ECU i can tune.
My stock ECU is a -96 manuel VR4. I have read that, that kinda ecu is not "tunable" somewhere..
Feel free to comment anything related to ECU/tuning possibilitys and so on..

the metal case 7201 prefaclift ecu is not tunable with ecuFlash the free software, but if you Buy the mmcflasher option 1 then you can tune this ecu.
Evoscan sells the software and dongle you need to run it. i bought it so i can help some others out when they need so adjustments made.

The only thing i would say is, if you want to use kenneths 1.03 rom or 2.0 rom then these will not work on the 7201 ecu but it is still tunable with the mmcFlasher software, it just means you will not have the anti lag, launch control, NLTS, option of 1.03 and the switchable maps of 2.0 that kenneth put into his roms.
if you have an auto vr4 then you can't really use these options anyway as they don't really work with the auto box. about all you can use is the stationary rev limit. which is a bit pointless switchable map still work though.
one other thing i will say is kenneths roms do offer a larger mappable area in the fuel and ignition tables, which is why i use them as this is very useful and it is why i sent him some money for the privileged of using them. well worth it as he put a lot of time and effort in developing the roms for the VR4 platform.

Ok.. cool. Problem is, NO ONE in Norway has VR4 galant therefor no one can help me. Ship this ecu to one who can tune it can be big problems.. ( i guess ). Soo im not thrilled over the situation im in right now :/
What to do and not to do...

either buy the software and tune the 7201 yourself.

or buy a 7202 and tune the ecu yourself.

it is not difficult to do a rough tune for some extra power. but getting the best out of the engine is a real art form you really need to know what you are doing.
i don't profess to be anything like and expert, or even competant, but i have a play with my own car and get some resonable result with minimal adjustment.
you have to have AFR gauge and boost gauge fitted to you car and have the ability to log the engine data before you start adjusting anything. so these are additional costs that you might not have thought about.

personally i would never consider sending an ecu to someone and have them put a midified rom on it and send it back me, every car is different and the rom cannot be the correct set up for your car it will only be a generic tune that might work or might not. you would never know if the tune does not work on your car and give knock, until you engine goes bang.

oh one more thing, kenneths rom i mentioned above have the knock sensor flash the engine warning light if the knock sum is 3 or over. which is a great feature.
