Sam, It Would Help If You Told Us A Bit More About Your Car. Is It Auto Or Manual, 4-Speed Or 5-Speed? If It's An INVECS-II Auto Then There Are Lots Of Threads About This That May Help You 2.

Ah, I see from a previous post you have a VR4, so I'm guessing it's an auto too.

Check the ATF fluid levels as a starter for ten....warm the car up then check the dipstick level under the bonnet (it's left of the battery).

Is the noise coming from the front or the back?

if its an auto doesn't sound very good , prob the main planet set which gives you the first three ratios . should get it checked out by transmission specialist .

hello there

its a preg vr4 legnum with 70k auto 5 speed, sound seems like its coming from front passanger side, where gearbox is, will top up atf fluid, however i may have a slight driveshaft problem may be a connection, maybe where the pot sits into gearbox,
i did give the car a lot of stick, then suddenly stop and then put into reverse, plonker
i know!

could it be the auto clutch?
